Lets say depart from Ouistreham or Cherbourg on a clean card, first shift would end South of Bordeaux,in comfort, but you would not make Castets, even though ex-bosses seem to think so as everyone else made it there.
Second shift ending at an hour or so North East of Madrid on the national 2 or national 1,depending if you went via Burgos or via Pamplona,on the 121.
Third shift at near the Malaga area,a few hours from Gib,on the forth card,it would be an early start to join the queue to check in with the Guardia Civil then hand in your papers to clear customs
Why did all my ex-bosses seem to get it their heads that i would be parking up at Gib on the third card, then tip off the card to give you time to reload in Alicante/Valencia,a whole days driving away.
There were never re-loads back to the UK in the Algecerias area, apart from the steel roll factory there,by the super markets.Gib is a werd place, one crappy little cinema, one high street full of the blue rinse brigade of cruise shippers in the Summer months, once i enquired about some diving,i got a snotty attitude from the owner, and never went back.
You can make Castets using Article 12
It is the law.

I’d normally make it to Sunbila for a ‘skoff’ then run the disc out towards Agreda. (I have made it to Soria a couple of times but I might have had to make some ‘repairs’ inside the fuse box ) I’d need to have a bit of luck with sailing times but coming from Liverpool I’d have a few of hrs left to run in France so I could comfortably get to Gib on my third disc. (not counting the England into France one) I’ve had a few ‘nervy’ runs down to Newhaven on a Sunday, then run to the Total garages at Dreux for my first night!!
Ross.
Toby, you can be a right t*sser sometimes. Gib is a great place if you know where to go. Some good new bars in the new Ocean Village complex. Planet football is the best bar anywhere along the costa to watch football. Your a bit out of date with your cinema information, the new Kings Bastion leisure centre has a multiplex. Gib is now a very wealthy place, higher per capita income than the UK. There has been no recession in gibraltar.
I reckon you can do it in three cards with 2 nines and a 10 from Caen, Cherbourg is an extra hour.
was that water or ■■■■ toby?
over the last 2 months I have been using the caen boat and on a sunday morning i can do vivonne to caen in 4.45hrs so i take a break on the new motorway stretch about 45 mins before caen.
on a saturday it is easy to do castets to vivonne in 4hrs so i can’t see how you can’t do castets to caen in a tight 9hr or an easy 10? vivonne to malaga is 17.5hrs and gib another 1hr45mins so its possible to do castets to gib in 3 discs, albeit 2 x 10 and 1 x 9. just depends on whether you follow the sheep and go via burgos like the majority of brits who seem to NEED to pass victors or go the spanish route via almazan and crack on
I guess it depends on whether you have the limiter set to a UK 90 k’s or a spanish 90 k’s.

absolutely
If go from Caen, with a light load, and flat out all day,i can only get 40 minutes from Castets, must be something wrong with the wagon.
I used to do Gib area from Caen nae bother in 28 to 29 hours driving time a few years ago, and a lot of new roads have built since then which should knock another hour or so off.
Is that a picture of Chris Hoopers dutch reg Scania, with the Arabic in Transit sign?
What way are you goin Toby, i can get to Irun now in 10 hours but i don,t, as Iruns not the best place to get parked, my truck runs at 88km on the limiter so its not fast.
Klunk
Caen to Irun in that time, are you sure, from the docks i go via Angers,on the national, not the toll road, then Poitiers to Bordeaux, then the Forest road,i know the toll road from Le Mans to Caen shaves a lot of time of.
Irun is no good for parking, heard of cab break ins at the pay parking, near to the MOT centre, off the first exit as you enter Spain from the French border.
Aye Toby i go the toll route Caen, LeMans,Tours, turn off Poitiers sud then N10 Bordeaux, forest road,
I got the picture of the Saudi transit plate (did,nt use them when i ran down there) off a volvo parked in Bolton i,m trying to upload the pic of the full truck now.
klunk
Wow that upload was easy , going to work now ,change over at Southwaite, a load of fish for Brittany so Portsmouth Caen tomoro 0815.
Klunk
Caen/Flers/Laval/Angers/Thouars then to Poitiers, the area you go through is called Petite Suisse,or little Switzerland,it is a river rafting area for the tourists in the summer.
Toby Sometimes if I have the time i use that route and theres a couple of good routiers ,the one at the roundabout above Saumur is a good one also a AS24 stop
as soon as you come off the caen ring road the new motorway bypasses what used to be several roundabouts in i think alencon? but not too sure. its flat out peage all the way to poitiers then come off for N10 so vivonne is (annoyingly) just over 4h30mins.
then castets is do-able in an easy 4h15mins toby its just you use the cheapest but slowest route.
depending on how many frenchtankers you encounter on the N10 you can do the border in 10hrs, and the majority of people who rob from truckers are other truckers unfortunately. but then if you pay such low wages they can’t afford a meal in a routier maybe they’re tempted to rob off other drivers??
What is the world coming to , what a bunch of slackers !,You can do, and i would expect you to do, , starting with a clean disc in caen, an easy castets and i can do it without doing any peage !,Except for that bit around alencon. If ya cant just ask an i will show you how ! Legally by the way too.
Hw about the three peages at the bottom then ?. Sorry Castets. Thinking of the border.
