Yeh, It"s true not a wind up, check out [Doctors On Wheels] on line, it seems u can get these medicals that way, I phoned the number was told the choice of appoinments in my area, then wait for it, yes u guessed it they wanted my credit card details, Doh" dont think so, good luck with that one. Regards CJA1.
My last medical for licence renewal was conducted at a Big Yellow Self Storage Unit, Doesn’t matter where it’s done, you get the medical and a completed form for a lot less money than your own GP will want so it’s win, win.

No, they exist, I’ve seen one somewhere.
Doctors On Wheels use a motorhome in Bristol.
Not quite an ice cream van but close
When i worked for Biffa we had one turn up every year for a full M.O.T, useful i guess knowing your health and it picking up any problems !!
Talking of HGV medicals ( more a case of form filling than a medical ) but i wondered how DVLA would look upon a different doctor filling out the forms.
I have always used my own doctor for this service, even though hes more expensive than most @ £100, but he has all my medical details to hand, and if i used a mobile one, he wouldnt have a clue to my medical history ( unless i told him ) and if i wanted to, i could lie about any health problem i had, so someone who has sleep apneoa, or heart problems/diabetis, could lie, and get into big problems because of his/her previous applications to Swansea.
As an added bonus, does our great leader dave, know how much is pocketed
by doctors who examine drivers for their HGV licence, which is normally done after hours, and averaging £100 a time, so when they complain about their £150 grand salary, and their ( to look forward to ) pension of between £45,000 to £68,000, tell them they can earn an additional £500 a week to supplement their pensions, and only seek 1 patient a day and work a 5 day week, not bad money if you can get it.
Old Dr Pottinger in Willenhall was the best, £15 for a 5 minute medical, he could fill the form in and stamp it while testing you eyes and saying goodbye at the same time pity he retired or died or something.

That’s why his doctor is now mobile - so he can chase him easily

So not a very good doctor if he died or something
That is like a clairvoyant getting run over!
If I went to my own doctor for a medical, she would fill in the forms and probably ring the knacker.
A doctors on wheels or in a lockup will test my urine for diabetes, my eyesight & ears for a couple of senses, they will watch me walk in, and out, and listen to my chest. If he does my blood pressure and it is risen he will mark it down as white coat syndrome.
The biggest test is getting past the officious receptionist. If you do that OK you are ready to tackle any RDC goods-in department.

I used them for my last medicals, no problems what so ever gave them my card details and all they took out was the payment.
Think I paid 45 quid, I had to do 2 medicals as I had taxi licence as well, my doctor wanted 120 quid plus another 120 quid to fill in a duplicate form, robbing gits.
I just requested a copy of my medical records and took them.
If medicals were properly regulated by DVLA then there would be no need for all of these cheap medicals, there should be a max price that your own GP should be able to charge for this service, its not a luxury it is a necessity for people to work, the medical in reality should be carried out by your own GP who does know your problems and knows your history, people use cheap medicals not just for the cost but to ensure that they pass okay. If medicals had a max fee of £25 (Should be free of course) then DVLA could insist that your own GP should perform the medical. Like everything else the government meddles with its a big mess.

I used doctors on wheels for my last medical polish doctor in a very nice camper van no problems at all would definitely use them again.
I am happy to pay my own GP for the service. I’d rather it was done properly by someone who knows my history.

If you do have health issues fair enough, but If your in good health, why waste money?
