Driving medicals in an ice cream van

how will they know it is YOUR urine sample, you could say anything when the doc ask`s you,i dedect a fiddle and a large money making exercise?

weeto:
So what is the person who isn’t registered at a doctors, supposed to do?

Why would you not be registered with a doctor?

If this is the case then any doctor (or most) will see you privately albeit you have to pay private costs, if DVLA are writing to you in this country then I would have thought you would be registered with a GP.

the doctor did not submit his GMC number, have i become a victim of inter net fraud?

I don’t have a GP, haven’t had one for years. Been to a doctor three times in the last 25 years and each time it was for an HGV/LGV medical so don’t need one. It’s easier for me to use the service from one of these cheaper outfits, they know as much about my medical history as anyone so no great issue.

Wrong, any doctor in any town should see you for free, I called into a surgery in lockerbie a few years ago when feeling unwell in the truck, saw doctor within half an hour, he made a diagnosis gave me some pills and sent me on my way with a letter for my doctor, I live in York.

It sort of answers your own question which was “So what is the person who isn’t registered at a doctors, supposed to do?”

For what its worth, I was feeling ill in Germany about 10 years ago, as I was delivering around Osnabrück I actually stopped at an English army base and was seen by a doctor there - no charge either and I even had me a dinner out of it.

You could do that with your own doctor, mine posts me sample bottles through the post, empty of course. I thought about returning them the same way. :stuck_out_tongue:

But as Neil said I didn’t have a regular doctor for years, the one I had at childhood died and I never replaced him until I moved to Oxfordshire, since then I have had 3 more, so none of them really know my medical history.

triple-tango:
I am happy to pay my own GP for the service. I’d rather it was done properly by someone who knows my history.

My father thought the same way, he passed his HGV medical with flying colours, and dropped dead on his driving test :open_mouth:

His last words to me “I shall pass this test if it kills me.” He failed as he didn’t complete the route in time!

I got my medical done by doctors on wheels about 2 years ago. I paid £47 I think it was and they made me an appointment to meet a doctor in his motor home at Orwell Truck park

Doctors on wheels are a very good firm,J Coates i think is the booking.

Coffeeholic:
My last medical for licence renewal was conducted at a Big Yellow Self Storage Unit, .

Dropping and coughing for a bloke you don’t know, in a storage unit ■■ Sounds more like a date

There was none of that, I would want at least dinner buying before any of that carry on! I walked in without falling over, he counted my limbs, asked me to read a few lines from the eye chart, tested the urine sample I had brought with me, it was mine but could have been anyone’s, tested my blood pressure, ticked the boxes and signed and stamped the form. Job done in 10 minutes for another 5 years.

I didn’t use my Dr for my medical, booked through a company, Cotswold■■?, half the price of my GP, the DVLA were already aware of my medical history, so no need really to inform the Dr doing the medical. I couldn’t really understand him all that well, but he seemed to know what he was doing, he told me my bp was a bit high and to go see my GP, he got that bit right, I had a heart attack 3 days later!

Old Dr Pottinger in Willenhall was the best, £15 for a 5 minute medical, he could fill the form in and stamp it while testing you eyes and saying goodbye at the same time  pity he retired or died or something.

So not a very good doctor if he died or something :stuck_out_tongue:

That was an unfortunate moment. I wonder if old Dr Pottinger was any relation to the haulage and speedway boss Les Pottinger. there was also a Frank Pottinger who raced speedway too, and the Heathens are still run by Will Pottinger of LP Transport.

Wheelnut, the padded cell looks like a sleeper cab for an American rig, funny photos,i like the caravan.
