Parked overnight at Derby Cattle Market a few weeks back and in the morning found that someone had taken two of the four rubber straps that secure on the top section of wheel arch. It would have been quicker and easier to take the complete piece with attachments!
My mate has a big house with a big drive and was outbased from his depot. Told his boss he was parking at a nearby truckstop all week but was leaving an 8 wheeler grab on the drive and pocketing the money. This went on for months until he came out one morning and there was oil everywhere as somebody had nicked the PTO.

I lost a brand new 24S fog lamp lead at Derby cattle market in 1984, funny how things stick in your mind. The boss bollocked me for leaving it on overnight

I remember being parked at the cabin at w thurrock many yrs ago on the fri night after previously loading off drapers tpt just down the road. When i woke up at 4.30am to go home to bolton some theiving toe rag had pinched every bulb and lens off the trl.I went back to drapers who supplied me with a full set to get me home.I took a new set off my gaffer back to them with his thanks the following week.A really good firm to deal with were drapers.Doubtless many of you stuck in a similar position have not been so lucky.

Heard you the first time
Back in the early 90s I was doing a fairly regular run down to Kraguvac in the former Yugoslavia (now Serbia).
I used to stop at a restaurant/truckstop near the Hungarian - Yugo border “The White House” if my memory serves me right
On my way down one week a driver asked if I could give him a lift home due to his truck breaking down, however as I was heading the opposite way I was unable to help.
One my way back 2 days later his truck was still parked up and he was nowhere to be seen so he must have got a lift.
Anyway 2 weeks later I’m back down there again, his truck is still parked there but its now a complete shell , anything and everything that could have been removed had been.
I dont know what nationality had done the damage but a lot of Brits used to stop there
On another point has anyone still got any of those bright red straps with “STOLEN FROM SALLY” written on them

Bit of a random one, one of our drivers came in the other day to find that someone had nicked a radiator hose!
someone nicked me derv once but i doubt it was another driver unless it was a stobbys one coz we know there going to go pop by easteer
Anyone who takes something from someone else without permission is a ‘THIEF’ it matters not how little or large the theft, he remains a thief and deserves to be treated as one…
Locked up and publicly humiliated.

I quoted your post in the Astran thread, it may get an answer there…

If only the British judicial system shared this view

Are you thinking about the one at la jonguera ■■? long time residential scania spares donor
Wheel Nut:
on a lighter note, most companies would never allow drivers to put bulbs in or remove Rubbolite lenses as they have not been trained to change them.20 years ago every driver had a full set of single and double contact bulbs and at least 3 types of lenses or a light board
Yes but that’s just common-sense and that would never do nowadays

No definitely Hungary
Drivers that will steal battery boxe’s and light lenses will steal anything diesel, freight, money anything that is not nailed down, then you all blame the travelling community
A few years back now one of our drivers was parked on an industrial estate on some waste ground for the night in his Merc actros megaspace…also parked there were two other Actros’s from the same company in Lithuania. Anyhow next morning they were both gone, as was his passenger side light unit. Not a hard job on an actros as they unscrew and swing out on hinges. Needless to say the boss did his nut as usual and blamed the driver for parking there etc…yet he didnt want us parking in services either due to the cost of parking, though to be fair it seems more theft takes place in MSA’s than any where else any way!
Not that long ago, a driver pulled off the bay in our yard and parked across the front of our trucks.
I saw him, from a distance, messing with the siamese light cables on his Renault premium.
Thought no more about it until we found that the brand new siamese cable had been nicked off our Volvo, which was parked
where it couldn’t be seen behind his truck.
The same driver still comes into our yard from time to time and I am biding my time until
his truck developes a mysterious fault ( no trailer lights) while he’s not looking.
What a thieving person.

Nick
