hi guys
can some one please explain to me how if you can only work for 90 hours a fortnight split between the two weeks, if in ur first week your working your maximum hours for that week how can you work overtime say 50 plus overtime,
and also is the 90 hours a fortnight driving time or time spent on the job i.e in your unit, as you probably guessed guys im gonna be new to this game shortly and i think you guys are the best people to ask
You can only DRIVE for 90 hours in any two consecutive weeks, you can work far more than that if you wish, 180 hours of work is possible in a two week period with plenty of breaks and POA thrown into the mix.

You cannot drive for more than 90 hours in any two consecutive weeks but on top of that you can have Other work - Loading, unloading, vehicle checks, fuelling, paperwork etc. You can also add breaks and POA - Periods of Availability to this total as well.
For example, two weeks in eight I clock between 86 and 90 hours for the week but on each of the 6 days I work I average about 6.5 hours driving and about an hour a day Other Work which totals 45 hours for the week. The other 40 odd hours is spent on Break or POA. I don’t come anywhere near the two weekly driving limit or the WTD limits of 60 hours maximum work and 48 hours average work per week as POA and Breaks do not count toward those totals.

You cxannot drive for mor ethan 90 hours in a fortnight, so, realistically that means you can drive about 45 hours per week. You cannot work more then 60 hours in one week. ‘Work’ means driving and/or other work. It does NOT includes breaks , rest periods or POA.
i think im getting the hang of this now so the 90 hours a week is drive time or other work you dont include rest time or anything else in to this

Where do you get this figure of 82 from? You can do more than that, I regularly book 86-90 hours in a week quite legally. Every week there are two of the drivers in our department booking those hours, that’s a different two each week I mean. Making use of every hour available in the fixed week could see a driver booking 99 hours, unlikely but it is legally possible.

And there was me thinking you can only have a 15 hour day maximum and that includes your breaks and poa, and then you can only do that 3 times a week because you must have a minimum of 9 hours off in every 24 hour period.
Which means maximum total working week is 84 hours. 3 x 15 hour days with 9 hour reduced breaks then 3 x 13 hour days with 11 hour breaks.

And remember, just because something is possible doesn’t mean you have to do it if you don’t want to. The weeks I do it it is because I want to, easy money which I am partial to.
