As has happened in the past, anyone know if it’s happening?
Dont know for sure, but just get to a safe parking area if you can, and do a print out and that should suffice.
If you’re talking …because shelves are empty…,
This sort of crap every time we have adverse weather conditions makes me so ■■■■ mad.
If it is coming about,.they can shove it up their arses.
360 days of the year it’ s illegal to go over a limit and deemed irresponsible and dangerous, then suddenlly just because it suits ‘‘them’’ it suddenlly becomes acceptable and safe for 5 or so days of their choice…
■■■■ em I say, and anybody who bends to it is a ■■■■ idiot…end of, let them see just what a valuable service we cover when we are being slagged off, tell them to go and ■■■■ themselves!
Annnnd breathe ahhhhhhh.
However…
If you’re meaning a bit of leeway for drivers to go and park somewhere suitable after being stuck all day and over their time, just ignore my rambling rant.
+1
Exactly what Rob said!
Worst is those t***s who sit in the office expecting us all to do the same amount of deliveries in this weather then act surprised when you ring them up saying x amount are coming back, absolute clueless. No way would i even risk my licence or go out and keep it lit in this weather just to please joe bloggs in his pointy shoes.

My son in law drives for an own account outfit.
They gave him a 5 dropper starting in Dumfries then Glasgow etc.
He has not long been there so could not kick off too much, new guy and all that.
However he asked them why they were sending him up there as all the roads were blocked, ‘red zone’ etc, …and that he had seen on Facebook that it was unadvisable to venture up there.
Their reply was ‘‘We take no notice of Facebook’’ to which he said ‘‘I aint talking about Dads advising others not to take their kids sledging, I’m on about Strathclyde Police’’ answer was…
‘‘See how you get on’’
He gets his first drop off,.takes him ages to get to his second to be told…‘‘Bloody hell mate, we did not think they would even send you here, everyone’s gone home for 2 days except me’’
He has a boxvan trailer and that second drop was the biggest quantity of his load, so he could not go to the rest, (furniture) so he sat for a day and a half on a retail park.
Fortunately he carries all the kit, and there was a pub nearby for a couple of decent meals.
■■■■ ups and breweries spring to mind eh with some of these feckless ■■■■ s.
They have been suspended before yes,but as robroy point out for the rest of the year we are the lowest of the low and nothing more than an inconvenience to everyone else…then all of a sudden we are “allowed” to work well over 15hrs a day because those that hate us need feeding.
Only time I’d of used extra hours would be to get myself home.
I just want to get home for the weekend.
I’m stuck on the A1 at Berwick.

Been a shunt up there near the A1068 which has shut the road in both directions.

99% agree with you Rob.
However, your lads office seem to have given him all the ingredients for a ■■■■ up? That may not have been their intention, and he may be too sensible to take the bait, but it
s all there!
A co-op artic has been stuck in Round by my yard for about 8 hours trying to deliver to the store there. Several land rovers and a digger failed to get him out.
Why they even sent him is a mystery, surely they knew what was going to happen.
Big icy hill + lorry usually equals a night out.
Think they managed to get him pulled backwards so he could at least start making his way home.
To paint a picture, this is the current situation just round the corner.
Not my pic, stolen off faceache

Dunno why he was sent?
Dunno why the driver didn`t say “No” too?
As the old saying goes “If you were told to jump off a cliff would you?”

Yeh maybe so, but if he hadn’t done it they would have given it to someone else I suppose, …maybe he was saving face, and/or did not want to appear awkward, who knows.

If you mean was it a test set up, I really don’t think they went that far.
There was no way he would have spent the day in the pub,.as he would need to have been on stand by, but I’m sure he will have gone for a pint and a meal at night after booking off, …nothing wrong with that.

I was trying to say they did succeed in organizing a possible scenario for a ■■■■-up. Not what they intended for any reasons of course, but you`ve gotta give the office credit for that: they CAN organize a ■■■■-up, without even trying!
I did a 16 hr shift that finished at 0400 this morning. Once I got off the a58 west after being taken off the m62 the roads/bus stops/hard shoulders were rammed with trucks of all shapes and many many cars, Burch was surrounded by trucks with curtains drawn, I wasn’t doing all that to go searching round Rochdale for some industrial to live in, balls to the rules , get it back I was happy enough. A night of hell, finished in winsford 0400 was at home in bed to swap with the missus as her alarm went off at five. Where ever you chose to stop last night and there were hundreds on the hard shoulders your going to wake up surrounded by fairly fast moving traffic, hartshead was free but jammed out . Birch the same, all Penine routes clogged, safest option was to do the 30 mile back to the yard

Spot on Rob
For most of the year anyone going over the limit is deemed a danger and we need to listen to the usual “they are a danger to other road users and we need to clamp down on them” patronizing speeches but the second the shops are empty, its perfectly safe to extend your hours.
I say ■■■■ em as well. If we all stuck together and said “■■■■ you. You dont like lorry drivers, demand we get dealt with severly if we do any wrong and see us as scum but now you deem it acceptable because it suits you, get a ■■■■■■■ van and stock your own shelves. See how much you depend on lorries then”
Wont happen though. Too many seat fillers who see pound signs for an extra few quid and will happily do it

Yep,.that’s the problem mate, those who can’t see past their own noses and the greedy and stupid who would work 24 hours a day if they could.
Theres some leaway to be had but i dont think you can take the ■■■■ too much
