A driver gets caught in a jam on the motorway. He hears on the radio that the police have closed the motorway and are directing traffic off it. Most drivers are in the inside lane of the 2 lane motorway as they know they have to get off. There are a few drivers bombing down the clear outside lane. The driver, frustrated with the shameless queue jumpers decides to move out and block the outside lane, but maintaining his current position in the queue. The drivers on the outside lane blocked are on their horns and lights, desperate for him to clear their path.
Was he in the right, in your view, to do this?
lane dicipline… we all hate the ■■■■■ who do this but… just deal with it
only exception i would make is if there was an obstruction in front and i could stop some one hitting it.
i said no for 2 reasons.
1: if the ■■■’s want to act like pratts driving down an EMPTY lane and cut up others further down then let them, they might get the ■■■ kicked out of them by some mean ■■■ SOB who they pee off when they cut them up.
2: if you pulled out into an EMPTY lane and just sat there you are being an ■■■ and deserve any abuse you get.
Someone once accused me of being this Curryfart chap. Now we’re in the same room at the same time so it can’t be true.
I voted no because I can’t be arsed to play queue hero. I’d rather just sit back, smoke a ■■■ and watch everybody else get stressed.
I dont think he was right to do this as he’s not allowed in lane 3 presuming he’s over 7.5t.
I do however understand it, we’ve all been there and sat in lane 1 or 2 only to have to wait longer whilst all the nice people at the front make everyone behind them wait till everyone shooting past in lane 3 gets let in first and in so doing makes us wait longer, i’ve done it myself in the past but these days i just handbrake it and get me knitting out.

If it was a three lane lane one then
I’ll see your 3 lanes and raise you to 4.

No, the drivers in the outside lane may be inconsiderate, but they are not breaking the law, whereas the HGV driver you mention in the scenario is breaking the law.
if the road’s clear… use it
done it last week on M42 from Tamworth southbound, matrix said lane closure, lane 2 queuing traffic almost stand still. lane 1 clear! so what do i do? yep carry on in lane 1 for 2 miles!! until i see blue and red lights meaning lane closed so there fore move in to lane 2. then let every one overtake me as i was limited to 51mph
I let them get on with it and I can’t stand people who play policeman. Surely a copper can book you for causing an obstruction?

Everybody who doesn’t already know, just read post no.6 in the above thread, the one by ROG; that’s all you need to know. The answer to the OP is NO, everyone should use all available lanes to their utmost in this situation and the law might do the aforementioned driver for obstruction IMO.

if you went past the red cross over that lane telling you it was closed then you have broken the law as you are not allowed to pass that signal

no red cross…
no law broken
just the black line red bar at top and black arrow next to it
