If the authorities did not want traffic to use a particular lane then they would close it
i said no because i think its the same as the middle aged bloke in his volvo estate sitting at 37.5 mph on an A road because he doesnt think YOU should be going any faster. Obviously his years of driving a car give him the right to play policeman.
So i say let the cars come, sit in your comfy ivory tower, watch them get stressy trying to get in front of the horrible lorry.
I’m paid by the hour, so who cares. Time is money, companys gona pay me for sitting watching the legs and drinking coffee, then hooray for that.

A driver gets caught in a jam on the motorway. He hears on the radio that the police have closed the motorway and are directing traffic off it. Most drivers are in the inside lane of the 2 lane motorway as they know they have to get off. There are a few drivers bombing down the clear outside lane. The driver, frustrated with the shameless queue jumpers decides to move out and block the outside lane, but maintaining his current position in the queue. The drivers on the outside lane blocked are on their horns and lights, desperate for him to clear their path. Was he in the right, in your view, to do this?
Not only was he not in the right he was behaving like a selfish idiot
Just because some people like to queue doesn’t mean we all have to make the queue’s as long as possible, the drivers using the outside lane were being sensible and using the available road and personally I would have been with them.
If the person in question wants to play at being a traffic cop he should join the police
fair play to them i dont blame anyone doing it we all have to wait why should some impatient ■■■■ try and cut us all up

Why do we all have to wait in one lane when two are available?

As a motorcyclist I would use lane 1.5 and ■■■■ everybody off
am paid by the hour so why worry

why not wait in three lanes then??
less lane changing eventually get through quicker not just the minority that speed past, and generally people are more tolerable towards each other letting each other in, when passing the “accident” when it all of a sudden goes down to one lane.

Why is the traffic in lane 1 here moving (a bit) faster than the traffic in lane 2 and what caused the traffic in lane 2 to actually stop at 0.14 and 1.22 ?.

The logical comparison would be comparing the time it would take to empty a 1 Litre bottle by holding it upside down with a uniform diameter tube holding the same amount. In the real world you probably wouldn’t need to wait at all if all the traffic was already merged before it had to slow up for the obstruction and was therefore already running at a relatively higher speed in the open lanes instead of the closed ones having to merge at low speed when it reached the obstruction.
He’s in the wrong until the lanes are actually shut they should still be used. All these selfish ■■■■■ do is move the jam further down the road

Not enough space between those wanting to merge left
If those drivers had left a good gap between themselves then it would have merged freely
It’s not the using of the that lane which was the problem but they way in which it was used

I agree, it was clear in that video that at times some drivers left it until they actually reached the cones then all tried to merge at once, a little common sense and the problem would not have arisen.
The fact that some people are ignorant of the correct way to merge in no way excuses a lorry driver blocking lanes that should be left open for use.

That all seems to be forgetting the speed differential between the traffic which needs to merge and the static road cones in front of them.In the real world there’s no way to merge traffic ‘freely’ at 30 mph + when it’s all got that close to the cones. The better idea would have been to warn the traffic of the lane closures much further back and for everyone to have got all the merging over and done with at higher speeds with no cones sitting in front of them.
In which case everyone would already have been in the open lanes 1 and 2 when they reached the lane closure with no obstructions in the way holding any traffic up at all.
However the SARP’s are just holding themselves up when it’s obvious that the best place to be in that situation was in lane 1 not adding to the problem by playing road blocks.
