Hi aj1982,

There is no pass/fail on a purely periodic DCPC course.

It doesn’t matter where you take your course, because the rules don’t vary.

However, a pass/fail scenario on some DCPC courses is possible, but this depends on the type of course you’re taking. You haven’t mentioned what type or title of course you’re considering, so it’s difficult to give you accurate advice.

For example, an ADR course… you can get 21 DCPC hrs for attending that course, but you could fail one or more of the ADR exams. Even if you fail those exams, you would still get the whole of your DCPC hours, because there is NO link so one does NOT affect the other.

The alternative answer is just a single poorly chosen word in an advert.

As I said, it doesn’t matter whether you pass or fail the test/exam.

The DCPC hrs are awarded for simply attending

In that case it’s the Initial Driver CPC you will be taking for which there is an exam, the article you linked to in your first post is about the periodic driver CPC.

Basically there are 2 DCPCs, the initial driver CPC which has to be taken by new drivers, and the Periodic Driver CPC training which is for drivers who have already done the initial DCPC and drivers who have grandfather rights for the first 5 years.

There is as exam for the Initial Driver CPC (the one you’ll be doing), but not for the periodic driver CPC.

I got to wondering about that mod 4 thing too… there had to be an answer, and tachograph has got it!!

For aj1982 , you are facing a pass/fail situation.

The ‘attendance’ only bit is the periodic DCPC which doesn’t apply to you… yet.

Im looking to take the class 2 and then class 1

This doesn’t automatically mean Mods 2 and 4. Drivers who passed their car test before 1997 do not - and cannot - do mods 2 and 4 as they already hold C1 giving grandfather rights valid till this Sept.

There will be a few shockers for those with acquired rights after september because they will have to do 35 hours of periodic to be allowed to drive commercially which will take longer to complete than those doing mods 2 and 4

Better trainers will get this done with minimal disruption and to get it completed before the test pass. So, although it’s more to do, there’s no reason for it to delay the job if it’s sorted properly. We have done this for some time with D and D1’s so we know our system works.

Found this on gov website, does this mean I have to take 2 theory tests and 2 hazzard tests?

  1. The Driver CPC initial qualification

The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) initial qualification has 4 parts:part 1 - theory test (this includes 2 separate tests - multiple-choice and hazard perception)part 2 - Driver CPC case studies test (computer-based exercise with 7 studies based on real-life situations - eg driving in icy conditions)part 3 - driving ability testpart 4 - Driver CPC practical demonstration test (this takes 30 minutes - you will need to show you can keep your vehicle safe and secure, eg loading your vehicle safely

No,

If you are doing your driving test and initial cpc then you do

Mod 1 multiple choice theory questions and hazard perception

Mod 2 cpc theory case studies

Mod 3 practical driving test

Mod 4 practical cpc test (weights, vehicle loading etc)

You must do the theory before the practical of the pairs (mod 1 +3, and mod 2+4)

So mod 1 must be done before mod 3 and mod 2 must be done before mod 4

You can do both mod 1 and 3 before mod 2 and 5, or to confuse you can do mod 2 and 4 before mod 1 and 3

There is no second hazard perception test, upgrading from clas 2 to class 1, or C to CE you do not need to take any more theory tests or hazard perception tests

Hi guys
If i passed my licence 2 years ago how it will be looks my cpc course■■? Have i pass just mudule 2 and 4 but mudule 2 is just case studies or theory test as well??

Welcome to Trucknet-UK

Do you mean you passed category C 2 years ago ?

Have you done modules 2 and 4 ?

If you did not have a pre 97 car licence then you would need to pass these to drive LGV commercially
Modules -
1a theory
1b HPT
2 dcpc theory
3 practical road/reverse test
4 dcpc practical
Passing that lot gives you 5 years on a DQC - driver cpc card - and before that expires you need 35 hours of periodic dcpc to continue driving commercially after that DQC expiry date

If you do have a pre 97 car licence then you have until 09/09/2014 to complete 35 hours of periodic dcpc training to be allowed to drive LGVs commercially after that date

What have you done?

Thx guys yes i passed 2 years ago cat. C and one year ago cat. CE so have i need to pass all initial cpc including 4 modules(1a theory. 1b hpt 2 dcpc theory 3 practical road and dcpc practical)??how looks practical road and reverse is it hard to pass■■? Thx
