Thx guys yes i passed 2 years ago cat. C and one year ago cat. CE so have i need to pass all initial cpc including 4 modules(1a theory. 1b hpt 2 dcpc theory 3 practical road and dcpc practical)??how looks practical road and reverse is it hard to pass■■? Thx
If you have already passed C then you have already passed 1a and 1b
If you did not pass car test before 1997 in the UK then to drive any LGV commercially you must pass initial LGV driver cpc modules 2 theory and 4 practical
If you have been commercially driving LGVs without the required dcpc then you have been getting away with driving LGVs illegally
In that case you MUST (by law) take and pass LGV initial driver cpc modules 2 and 4 to drive LGVs commercially
You can book your own module 2 at the theory test centre
Module 4 needs some training beforehand so contact a LGV training school for that - cost is likely to be between £200 and £300 as you need to use their vehicle for the test
You may find a few trainers who can do it cheaper especially if they do many at a time for mod 4

Many thanks for answers, so module 2 only dpcp theory can u Tell how looks moduÅ‚ 4 practical■■? If i have just module 4 on exam will be any driving?
mod 4 is done with no driving - just use of vehicle to explain and show answers
Hi
I have been trying to book online my module2 cause study exam but when i put my details(name surname licence number) appeared information that i have book exam theory test booking service and was`t sure what i have to do■■? booking exam for :LGV-CPC: LGV Driver CPC ■■
Hi all, I’m new here and am in the process of obtaining my Cat C licence.
Reading the thread above is confusing! So for my situation, to clarify…
I have a pre '97 car licence, I have very recently passed the Hazard Perception and the Multiple Choice theory tests. I will soon be having my practical driver training with a test at the end of it.
Lets assume that I pass the test. I then need to do the 35hrs periodic CPC before September to be in a position to drive LGV’s legally. I do not need to do mods 2 & 4 (from the initial CPC) due to the acquired rights thing on my licence?
I also presume it makes sense to do the CPC after I have passed the practical test and not before due to the practical bit of the CPC?

Have I understood the CPC process correctly?

Welcome to the asylum Dave
Yes as far as I can see you understand it well, you have a pre 97 licence so should have cat C1 on it in which case you don’t need to do the Initial DCPC, I’m not sure what you mean by “the practical bit of the CPC”, the DCPC periodic training can be any approved courses you choose to take, there isn’t a practical bit as such.
The dcpc is made up of hundreds of different courses so you can choose what you want to make up the 35 hours
Most are classroom based - there are no tests to pass or fail
You can do the same cheapest course 5 times to get 35 hours
You can do them now if you want to
Some LGV training companies have their C and CE training courses approved for dcpc so it worth asking your provider about that
If the LGV training course is dcpc approved then it will cost a little more but you could get up to 28 hours dcpc over 5 days if done as 2 to 1 all day with test on day 5
Tachograph and ROG - Thanks for your replies & putting me right.
I got my wires crossed about the ‘practical bit of the cpc’ further up the thread and thought it was part of the periodic but after reading it again it was referring to the initial CPC.
Well, that’s a relief, didn’t fancy the idea of reversing a class C around with the whole class watching on and tittering at my attempts!!
Because I am undergoing training to be a driver, I am wondering if it is worth waiting until after 10 September and do the training say on the 11th and do the whole 35hrs. That would mean I would be good for the next 5 year deadline in 2019 having completed the training in the new 5 year period?
Assuming the legislation doesn’t change (which it probably will) at present if I did the training after the deadline I would have until the Sept 2024 deadline to do the next 35hrs?

Is that correct?
Hi Dave, you’re getting a tad confused. Your acquired right expires on 9th Sept 2014. After that date you could not drive any truck commercially because you would have no CPC. If you complete the 35 hours before the deadline you will be issued a CPC card that expires on 09/09/2019 (5 years after the acquired rights ends). If however you complete the 35 hours after 09/09/14, say in December 2014 the Drivers card would be valid for 5 years from the date you competed the 35th hour.
Once a card has been issued and you have less than 5 years remaining on it you can then complete a further 35 hours to add an additional 5 years life span onto the card. To have nearly 10 years on the CPC card you would have to complete the 35 hours training twice ie 70 hours.
As a pre 97 car driver you have acquired rights until 09/09/2014 - That gives you a ‘ghost’ DQC with an expiry date of 09/09/2014
completing the 35 hours at any time before 09/09/2014 gives you a new DQC with an expiry date of 09/09/2019
If you do not complete all 35 before 09/09/2014 then you will be suspended from driving LGVs commercially until you do
If you complete the last of the 35 hours on say 20/10/2014 then a DQC will get issued with an expiry date of 19/10/2019
Once you have a DQC with an expiry date some time in 2019 you can then start on the next 35 hours and on completion of that set will give you a new DQC with an expiry date in 2024
Only hours done within 5 years of a DQC expiry date will count
Dave:
Thanks for clarifying this to me. I did think a 10 year gap was a bit ambitious!
You could have almost a 10 year gap
In the week after passing mod 4 you could do all 35 periodic hours then do another 35 hours in the week before the DQC expiry date
Mod 4 gives 5 years - then doing 35 hours puts another 5 years on DQC so doing that all in July 2014 would give a DQC expiry dated July 2024 - do next 35 in June 2024 … that’s almost 10 years
Im looking for some advice regarding cpc.I passed my HGV class 1 in march 2011,and have been driving hgv since then.Recently my work put me tro 5 days of cpc training.only to find out I have not completed module 4.Am I rite in saying that once I complete module 4 that I will then get my cpc card.Or do I need to the cpc traing days again. And do I also need my module 2 certificate to sit my module 4,and if I cant find it can I get a replacement?
