I’m confused that you’ve invested a lot of time to gain qualifications and done university courses yet you’re still driving a hgv…maybe your happy at this level,maybe this level is your maximum,who knows.
At job interviews; I figure out the intelligence of the interviewer and pitch my qualifications just below theirs. I have found that some bosses don’t like smart-arses and it is best to be a normal driver.

Sounds about it to me. Tell some how overly qualified you are and they’ll be worried about you getting bored and walking.
Some don’t want drivers who think, they want those who follow instructions.
Tell some employers you’ve been in management and they’ll worry you will either tell them their job, without knowing half the facts they do, or tell them their job without knowing a tenth of the facts they do.

Hi UK Tramp.You are obviously a bright lad.It seems my experiences have been the opposite of yours.I found out early that if I mention degrees or HNDs at an interview I would be told I was over qualified.I suspect that a transport manager would not want a driver with better qualifications than himself.At the end of the day it is only for a lorry driving job.I overcame this prejudice by operating for 20 years as an owner driver with up to 4 trucks.Apart from that,I chose driving jobs that suited me and chose to be spectacularly inflexible as indeed did you I think.Sometimes I would be told how did you do/know that and would have to smile modestly.There are many intelligent contributors on this forum,of which you are clearly one,but there are also some planks.Such is life.

In one. I put a lot of truth into my posts that should spark a good DEBATE off. Some of my posts are purposely provocative purely for this very reason. I do receive lots of private messages though on here telling me how they love some of my postings, so I suppose I do it on a 80/20 split. 80% factual and 20% showmanship. But it is a great way to get the better posters all under one roof so as to speak. Thats what usually happens on my posts and probably why I am such a popular member.
