Drink Driving

How dare you talk about alcohol related offences, as you have been caught 3 times in the past, you bloody racist hypocrite!!! If there is one thing Brits can’t judge other people is alcohol consumption and the havoc this creates.

Let me stop here, because I don’t want to follow you racist remarks. There is a whole lot another story of the drunk British tourist on our sea resorts, total havoc.
But that doesn’t mean all Brits are like that…is it :imp:

P.S. To be noted, most Brits in Bulgaria are either pensioners or tourists, no to many professional drivers, some of them might hold class 1 or 2, but all offences are done in cars.

im glad we seem to agree on something Dolphus

clearly EU , with its endless rules and regulations , is not able to harmonise a simple law as fundamental as drink driving limits . it should hold its head in shame .

if EU did then penalties could be carried across borders (sic) and prohibitions could become europe wide .

when i was convicted in holland the car limit was less than half of UKs . on none of the occasions would i have failed in england .

which is doubly bad for england as we have become the go to country for ■■■■ head junkie drivers with our sky high limit , in the same way as vietnam and bangladesh are magnets for kiddy fiddlers . no bottle happy hungarian is going to work in his own country with a zero limit and heavy policing , when he can come here and drink loadsa tins and drive and be virtually guaranteed to never be tested .

so i think after reading the comments we are justified to expect ::

a very low limit for pro drivers that is abit above zero (10-20).

a harmonised level for other drivers across europe (20-50)

a licence endorsement system across europe so that past behaviour cant be hidden

a much higher level of testing . certainly 50% of all drivers should expect to be tested per year , as is the aim in Poland .

booze sales should be much more heavily restricted . not in garages and not 24 hours .

police should do regular checks of drivers leaving yards and truckstops . we have all been to the red lion and stockyard and watched drivers drink themselves stupid then drive off a few hours later

all lorry drivers entering via chunnel or ports should be automatically breath tested .

it should become illegal to carry personal stashes in commercial vehicles .

the penalties for drunk drive murder in above cases are far to lenient , as are the standard bans . 5 year minimum for first offence then a life ban subsequently .

people like me should not be allowed to gain/hold professional licences if they have been convicted of drink driving in a car .

and drink driving limits on bicycles are counterproductive and stupid . get the junkies on their bikes to wobble home .

that seems a sensible basis to proceed on

Crikey CarryFast :stuck_out_tongue: thats the best joke this year so far !!

im trying to build a consensus here , so i would be much obliged if you dont mention that amongst Dolphus’s epic searching of every media outlet in Bulgari …

that he has failed to find a single mention of a drunken bum English being found in charge of an HGV .

lets just keep that amongst ourselves .

ive spent several years living rough all over europe when i was a youthful violent alcoholic ,

boredwivdrivin:
i had 3 drink driving convictions in Holland in the 80’s and got i think 60 , 80 and 100 guilder fines & no points . not much

boredwivdrivin:
will be a major surprise if i fail as havent drunk ANY booze since 01/01/2000 !.

wouldnt it be better to say NO ALCOHOL allowed fullstop for anyone .

Maybe you shouldn’t be judging the drivers that can manage to limit themselves to a couple of cans/pints before bed and then drive a hgv the next day. Im guessing that is what Dolph was getting at.

You know what’s worse? Driving tired. Your reactions are similar to someone who is way over the limit.

Most of those in BG were i think tourists, who seem to think they can do whatever they want, bit like here in the uk at one time, we all drove to the pub and home again, we also bought a bent mot for a tenner. In france it was normal to see a gendarme get out of his car and go for a coffee cognac or 2 or 3…In Bg there are many who flout the rules on DD including BG drivers, and possibly other nationalities. they have the right to imprison, or take away the licence, if involved in a serious RTA plus large fines, its the same with any nationality in the uk where they can also be banned from driving here.
I have a BG friend, who as a HGV driver had a serious accident in Romania that wasnt his fault, a drunk driver ran into the back of him and killed himself, whilst the enquiries were on going, he had his licence confiscated for 2 years, until he was cleared of blame…to me that was a travesty of justice, to hve to wait 2 years…luckily his boss gave him a job in the yard which kept his head above water, butv was on half of what he used to earn…so the rules can be just as strict abroad as they can be here.

All penalties are severe: if driver is caught driving with BAL from 0,5 to 1,2 first offence is fine up to 500 euro and up to 12 months suspension, second offence is fine up to 1000 euro and up to 3 years suspension, third is jail.
If driver is caught with more then 1,2 BAL - first offence is from 1 to 3 years prison sentence and up to 1000 euro fine. Second offence up to 5 years in prison and 750 euro fine. Thats if their is no faulty accident, death and so on, this penalties are only if a driver is caught driving drunk without causing accident. In case of serious accident drivers can get 10 years of jail time and 10-15 years suspension. But, a big but here, because of corruption most drunk drivers are getting slap on the wrist(probation, community work etc.)

18 000-20 000 Brits live permanently in Bulgaria, 300 000 come as tourists.

I would like people to differentiate between drink drivers and drunk drivers. There is a difference!

That is a maritime trailer, the unit on the front was not a maritime unit. It was a subby.

That just confirms that we’ve got the limit about right. As I said that idea would probably finish every country pub we’ve got left by making even a pint of beer illegal which is just bollox. While we apply a much harsher penalty than that if you exceed the more reasonable limit.

Although luckily for me I actually prefer Becks Blue now I’ve got used to it to most of the beers I used to like :open_mouth: after I stopped drinking for a long period after a pancreatitis attack which was eventually found out to be caused by gall stones not drink. :imp:

I did like this bit in that article: ‘After being neutralised, he was taken to hospital to be treated for self-inflicted injuries and when he is released he will be arrested for his inappropriate behaviour.’

He had to be taken to a hospital because he kept hitting himself in the head with a wrench.
Eventually he was let go by the court, declared insane at the moment of the rampage, because of the cocktail mix of steroid, drugs and alcohol. He didn’t remember a thing.
He lives second life so to speak, “swat” was called in when he tried to take petrol station employees as hostages, didn’t succeed. Police officers restrained them self from shooting him when he attack them with 2 knifes. He was so high on substances that it took 5 sets of handcuffs to restrained him…
Hope he get sued for the damages he caused.

Bulgari holidays are being advertised in my high st as ’ cheapest all inclusive packages ’

Im imagining that all inclusive means free food and booze ■■

In which case its not surprising if customers are fat cheap ■■■■ heads is it ?

1 week + flights + hotel + all inclusive package = £129 .

Perhaps if we had less ex soviet blok migrants forcing down our wages in blue collar sectors , we could afford to go on holiday to much nicer places ■■

Just a thought !!

Hey bwd, have you considered posting on Britain First’s forum? I’m sure your thinly veiled xenophobia will find a more appreciative audience there.

It may be an idea to join some other forums anyway, I have a feeling your freedom to post here may be reduced somewhat in the near future.

If it had been here, especially down in Victoria, he would almost certainly have been shot… pity he wasn’t really.
