Drink Driving

In the UK the drink driving limit is:
35 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath; or.
80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood; or.
107 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of urine.

isnt it about time that drivers of PSV or LGV vehicles had limits REDUCED to 0mg ■■

i am consistantly shocked at how many tinnies our trampers load up with for each trip !

it is , i think fair to say , that this problem is much worse with our RumBulPolHunLat cousins .

i mentioned to ex soviet bloc transport manager that he should be breathalysing these bums before he gives them keys , and banning alcohol in cabs ( there is a sign on wall stating that all drivers are subject to random testing ) , but instead he got arsey with me and promised im going to get tested “when i come in ■■■■■■ next”

will be a major surprise if i fail as havent drunk ANY booze since 01/01/2000 !.

i think he is just a ■■■■ head alcohol junkie like most of his drivers .

""Dimitar Kamov, of no fixed abode, was subsequently arrested in connection with this incident and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Kamov has been charged with driving with excess alcohol after blowing 107mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. In addition to this he was also charged with dangerous driving.“”

A Polish lorry driver found to be three times over the drink-drive limit on the M25 was sentenced to 14 days in prison.

Remigiusz Zjawiknski was pulled over by Surrey Police when he was driving the white goods HGV on the M25 from junction 9 to 10 at midday on Thursday April 30.“”

now i appreciate that alot of Brits drive around ■■■■■■ , but these were first 3 that came up on google for 2015 .

wouldnt it be better to say NO ALCOHOL allowed fullstop for anyone .

Your (not even thinly veiled) racist attacks are getting a tad tiresome now mate, which is a shame as you are clearly quite smart and in other posts you are capable of writing quite thought provoking content tbh.

Obviously your comeback will be that the EE examples you posted were the first ones that Google threw up; well I’m sure that if I searched for “East European convicted rapists” then that is exactly the results I would turn up.

I do find it slightly ironic that you know the exact date of your last drink (although in your defence I too remember my monumental hangover of the same date) , but I’m sure that you are one of those folks who thinks that just because you don’t partake in something you think that others should not either!

You’ll get no arguments from me regarding the scourge of drink driving, but surely not even the most strident killjoy would not want to ban something that a few idiots take to excess whilst the overwhelming majority do it sensibly? You could also why you’re at it campaign for cars and motorcycles to be not capable of more than 70mph, as after all that is the limit isn’t it?

I don’t see the o/p statement as racist, merely stating whats on google is mostly stating facts.same over here ,its still 30 years behind in the drunk driving mindset…and then we cross the border into eire…go out.get bladdered, there will be no chance of a taxi, and no public transport,so just drive home legless…socially acceptable by most once your outside of the major cities,i think that it should be an offence to drive between the hours of midnight and 5 a.m unless your at least 5 times over the limit…drunks avoid drunks, its only when theres sober drivers around at the same time that they come to greif… :open_mouth:

No. 0 ug is likely to result in many innocent drivers being arrested, even if they’re not convicted, for being over the limit even though they’ve not touched a drink ever. Use a mouthwash? Over the DD limit. Taking a cough medicine? Over the DD limit.

This is just a short list of common over the counter products that contain alcohol.

Sound like one of those hero’s that has quit smoking, they think they are better then those of us that never started.

But you could fail a roadside test if you’d recently got up, brushed your teeth, used a mouthwash and then got stopped not long after or if you had a bit of a cold and took some medicine. And that is why zero level tolerances like you want are a bad idea. Would you be convicted? No. But you would be arrested for providing a positive test at a roadside test, carted off to the nearest open police station, placed on an evidential breath tester where you could still fail, then have to have a blood test, be interviewed under caution and then have to go through the hassle of getting back to your truck to continue your days work and all because you had a spoon of Vicks Cough Syrup or cleaned your teeth.

The o.p. appears to be a xenophobic , sanctimonious git bag.

That is all.

Open racism against Eastern Europeans and Asians seems to be acceptable on this forum going on how widespread it is. I’d like to say he’s an exception but unfortunately there are a fair few like him.

irrespective of nationality some of our own UK born and bred drivers drink you used to see drivers in the old truckstop bars till late on and hear them start the engines at 3am.

to me it should be a matter of professionalism if your driving the next day don’t drink especially if its your living.

Lol comments about trampers and the amount of tinnies they take, If was tramping in the uk all week i would take a supply with me, with the price charged at some places it’s no wonder, It doesn’t make them alcoholics or mean that they will be driving over the limit the next day, many enjoy a few beers after they have finished their day, to help them unwind , besides drink too many and your woke up several times by a full bladder ,

You only need to read his guff on any of the EU polls threads.
About an hour ago he called Dolph racist then in the next sentence said that all foreigners were not welcome. Go figure

My job for tomorrow has just been altered and I’ve parked up till the morning. Booked off at 16:00 and card not going back in till 06:30 tomorrow. I’m definitely having a drink tonight (got one on the go now as it happens) and know for a fact I won’t be over the limit in the morning.

No alcohol in cabs would be ridiculous in my opinion, a couple of pints/cans to unwind is perfectly acceptable. These ■■■■■■■■ drink drivers won’t care what the limit is, they will just carry on regardless.

Disagree with zero tolerance as conor stated (I don’t like agreeing with him :smiling_imp: ), he’s right on this occasion.

He’s right for different reasons - we all know limpers never know when the phones gonna ring so they’ve gotta keep sober. ■■
(Runs for cover)

Common sense really :open_mouth: if on standby no alcohol. Told finish and start time no worries

get so sick and tired of all these do gooders who suggest a zero limit-what a load of ■■■■■■■■
I really cant see the problem in driving to a lovely country pub, having a nice lunch and a pint(I only ever have one if driving) and driving home again afterwards-
THIS IS PERFECTLY LEGAL FFS
the people that get ■■■■■■ up and drive will still do so even if the limit was zero !!!

no as there are too many foods and medecines containing alcohol that would make innocent drivers criminals agree it should come down to what they have set it in scotland .

ex railway employee and we had random testing for drink and drugs set at half the DD limit that effectively meant nothing to drink 8 hours before a shift plus if you were in a safety critical role you had to notify management of any medication you were taking certain ones stopped you working eg nightnurse daynurse some painkillers etc .

Watch out in Scotland drink level is lower,

I don’t agree with a zero limit. Got pulled in a random stop 10.30am the other morning 200 yards from my house. Copper asked when was my last drink. Told him I don’t drink and then he asked if I’d used mouthwash that morning so it’s on their minds as well.
Please to know I blew a zero.

My god, but reformed alcoholics (sorry, drinkers) are a bigger PITA than reformed smokers! I’m sat in the cab, eating my grub and having a glass of red (I know, what a bohemian), and you know what? I think I will have a second one! It is legal, safe and harming nobody. So, if you wouldn’t mind - take one of these ■■■■ off tablets. And if you feel the urge to come back - take the other one!
