most of the places i’ve driven for have a uniform for their drivers,1 place it is complsory to wear it.they deliver to a lot of food/meat companies so it is important that the drivers look smart.1 place i was driving for gave me a few polo shirts so as to fit in with the other driver i was working with, because of the nature of the work we were doing,
i take a pride in my appearance so doesn’t bother me wearing a uniform, can’t drive in jeans & rigger boots
i’ve always had a uniform,so when i went self employed i had some polo shirts & a couple of sweat shirts done with my logo on & got some new work pants.the difference in peoples view/opinion of a driver when you turn up smart & tidy is very noticeable, they treat /speak to you a lot better,i also think it’s make you act/drive a lot better as well.
i was delivering to a place at thorpe arch,Moores & there was a driver there, jogging bottoms halfway down his arse,t-shirt halfway up his beer belly,3 days of stubble,he looked a total disgrace,as was commented on by 2 other drivers & the 2 flt drivers that were there.i couldn’t even work on my bike/car looking like he did.
I also remember turning up at a transport company not long ago to be told I looked a bit too smart for a driver!
The bloke behind the desk siad I could get a job with Mr Stobbart dressed as I was. I politely told him that Mr Stobbart could not afford me!!!
I think we look good in Hi Viz polo shirts or vest and Hi Viz vest, navy blue trousers or a nice pair of shorts in the summer and safety boots or riggers, shaved head and some kind of well trimmed facial hair…Perfect!

I think you’ll find I admitted no such thing. And yes I wore the Top Hat because Adam Buxton was there.
Your a one to talk, your probably plodding around in flip flops speedos and a string vest with a hanky on your head with all the other ex pats!
flip flops? no i’m not eastern european
speedos? no my beer belly would overhang considerably
hanky on my head? no i’m not ingurlish

i can’t find your comments about your attire on facebook from when you were at glasto but i remember you commenting on the way you dressed
It’s not on Facebook I can’t find it must have been twitter. But I certainly didn’t admit to being dressed badly. It was something along line of questioning my sanity getting so dressed up to trapse through a mud bath. I looked fantastic and you know it old man!
It’s a fact of life that presenting yourself well earns you respect. If all drivers turned up to customers premises dressed smartly and looking presentable (like proffesionals), I am sure we would see a positive shift in how we find ourselves treated.
It’s not just on the job though, a lot of drivers I have noticed turn up for interviews looking like tramps in football tops etc., all apparantly with the attitude of “its just a driving job”. Is it any wonder they think they can get away with paying us peanuts?
Navy trousers from Asda - £8.
Navy polo shirt from Asda - £4.
Smart safety boots from Sports Direct - £22.

Nothing wrong with shorts and flip flops. Quite often I’ll turn up for work on a pleasant sunday morning in said attire. We don’t do any drops on sunday, it’s just drive to wherever we need to be first thing monday. But it’ll be dress shorts with a tidy shirt. If the weather is still nice on monday then the shorts go back on and the flip flops are replaced by boots. The shirt is replaced with a tidy polo.
Today for example, I’ve had a multi drop and the temp has been in the high 20’s. If I’d worn long trousers today I think I would’ve melted. After the last drop the flip flops went back on cos I hate having sweaty feet.
I also drive a smart lorry and I don’t think I do it a disservice. Well maybe after the 9th drop I might look a bit ragged.

My company issue shorts but i think they look daft with boots, id wear them if i could wear trainers. Luke i think ive only seen you in a uniform once(polo) in your videos. Im not saying you look like a jakeball but you wear civi clothes what sort of impression does that give to your customers that you dont give a hee hoe
Drivers that wear those joggers and the t-shirt 2 sizes too small with the belly hanging they give me anguish.
I don’t need a company polo to look smart, in fact I look a lot smarter in my preferred shirt, a SuperDry black polo, because they are better quality and a much better fit. Compared to most of the drivers in places I go it’s actually quite the opposite, I look like the only one who gives a ■■■■ about my appearance.
Tramp. Lacoste or Fred Perry the norm for our drivers.
