Dover port blockade

The only way we will ever get proper control of our borders back is by voting UKIP.

I watched that program earlier in the week and I was amazed at the number of trailers those guys were able to open the doors on surely it would be in your own interest to put a padlock on the door. They are not expensive must be a better bet than having unwanted visitors. I worked for a firm years ago and we hauled a lot of carpets I bought a padlock and used it all the time and it gives you peace of mind you just have to mind and retrieve it when swapping trailers. Eddie.

Absolutely…if it involves truckers, they have to stop them protesting, but our Muslim brothers can do whatever they want, insults left right and centre against a country they hate and want to hurt.

U ■■■ why do you have to bring muslims into something totally non related you pea brain

No Muslims in Calais then? Just asking the question

A lot of the immigrants in Calais are there due to there religion, if you believe all that is read & said…

I don’t think you read my post Eddie. The padlock I bought didn’t last one trip through Calais. :imp:

I bet most of the ‘up for it’ drivers work for firms and wouldn’t even get permission from the bosses to take a truck so it’s all mostly bravado.
For any owner drivers or small firms who are going then good on you. There’s something really wrong about the penalty and the ways they’re imposed.

Has anyone ever started or thought about an e-petition on the subject? With it being such a hot topic in the media at the moment this may be the best time to have the support from the general public in getting this discussed in parliament. And it’s also a way for those drivers who can’t just borrow a truck from work to protest on Saturday to show their support.

You’re welcome

Your on about starting a petition and sticking it to the man, but you can’t even stand together on here reading through this, one person says something good the next shoots him down I’ve said it before on other threads british drivers couldn’t stand together for a photograph, if we did stand together then maybe we could be like the French drivers where they have the backing but we don’t even have the backing of each other :unamused: :open_mouth:

There is a feature of facebook that shows, quite openly, who has ‘liked’ a page. The list of “political organisations” that have liked the above page is enough to show that the entire event will undoubtedly end in some very very bad press for truckers.

I would like to add that I wholeheartedly agree with the blockade and that action is long overdue. It’s just a shame that this is a party that is going to get gatecrashed in the very worst way.

I hope I’m wrong.

Of course you are right about the difficulties of getting drivers to stand together, especially when it involves illegal action. And blockading the highway, which includes a port, would be illegal.

However it is a myth about the success of French drivers in this regard. In the past it may have been true but, in the early years of the Sarkozy presidency they were threatened with withdrawal of PL (HGV) licences and that had a dramatic effect. I have recounted before how I met a so-called ‘blockade’ on the outskirts of Brive la Gaillarde. The gendarmes were in attendance but stood by watching as several wagons were pulled to the side but allowing one lane through to the roundabout. A driver flagged me down and requested that I park up for 10 minutes before moving on. I gladly agreed, wanting to do my bit but not wishing to risk my livelihood. As I pulled to the side another driver, having made his point, left to continue his journey. A very peaceful and civilised demonstration of frustration and protest, but just that, a demo not a blockade.

If you want to spot real power in this country you must turn to the farmers. Last week a parade of tractors and trailers rolled through the streets of Morlaix, scattering fruit, veg and manure as they went and topped it off by setting fire to the tax office before preventing the firefighters from getting to the blaze.

Not something I would recommend though, nervertheless I wish all who demonstrate in Dover today well and hope that in the absence of trouble a strong point is brought home to the authorities.

After the fuel tax protest of 2000 the government, probably shock on how easy it was for the haulage industry to bring the country to a halt, threatened operators with a loss of their O’licence if they took part in blockades.

Also the protest had some support from the public as they weren’t happy with high fuel prices, I think we have some public sympathy over this, but that could quickly disappear is we disrupt their Saturday or get some bad publicity from the Tory backed media.

To be honest I think protests are pretty useless, how many people protested to stop the Iraq war?
They also seem to get hijacked by agitators, leading to more bad publicity and the reason for the protest get lost in reports on violence etc.

If I was a government minister faced with protests that might gain public support, I think the way I’d deal with them if to send my own agitators in to turn it into a riot, but I’m sure our government aren’t that devious.

We have an election next year, what we need to do is make this an election issue, I don’t think it would be difficult.

There’s a pecking order in this land and we drivers are near the bottom, we just have to do as we told and let the muppets in government do what they do best [ZB] the county up a bit more , once over we where an EMPIRE !!! Before you say why don’t you do your bit I did, I served my country for 12 long years

Any news on the blockade?? Anyone involved?? - Best of luck to those that are, this situation cannot continue!!!
Apparently starting at 1300 hrs.

Basically it’s just turned into a far right demo with them blocking roundabouts, Nick Griffin is down there too, one way to get rid of public support I guess.

No they don’t dispose of their ID documents until they land saftley in the uk , So the frogs could deport them, but they don’t simply because they don’t want to stay in france, and the frogs know this and have done nothing about it, hence the high number of them there now

In the vast majority of cases they don’t carry any documentation at all, they cross europe without it because, as was said earlier, when caught (regardless of which country in) they can’t be deported without papers.

CS gas or pepper spray is legal to buy in Europe but illegal in the UK, a driver has every right to protect him/herself.In the UK it is classed as a weapon and jail time.
The truckstops and Msa,s sell it abroad.
I would hide my canister down my under crackers, when coming off the ferry in to the UK.
A Greek driver was let off all charges when two English known criminals tried to rob his load, he stabbed one of them and he died. This was in the UK.

Warms the cockles to see honest British Truckers as the lead photo in this story… :smiling_imp:

Oh dear, BNP, NF turned up so as usual the point is lost and the demo looks more like a ■■■■ day out for hard of thinking…

Protest over illegal immigration concerns was held in support of truckers who use ferries between Dover and Calais

Sorry mate, but which of those people there, with no lorries in sight, were drivers? And how do you know?

Big Ben:
THERE WILL BE A BLOCKADE AT DOVER EASTERN DOCKS THIS SATURDAY. THERE WILL BE SEVERE DELAYS.

Just a quick note so i can remind myself never to consider getting invoved in any of your nonsense posts. Hopefully once the truckers saw the BNP, NF biggots approaching they pulled out. No wonder we can’t stick together- too many pricks with hidden agendas.

All the time “Civil Disobedience” is classed as “terrorism” and critisism of actual terroist suspects (which all illegal immigrants are) is considered “racist” - we’ll carry on losing the battle of Europe currently being fought everywhere within it. :frowning:
