I know things aren’t fully up to speed after the Christmas break yet but does anyone know if the predicted long delays on the short sea route have materialised?

The predicted long delays in the case of a no-deal Brexit?
Nope.

Nope.
I see. So when the Independent ran this article with the headline “Turmoil looms regardless of whether a trade deal is struck with Brussels - on 1 January, when transition period ends” they hadn’t quite understood the situation?
Or when they said in that article “Queues of up to 7,000 lorries will snake through Kent when the completion of Brexit brings border chaos, a leaked government document warns… The turmoil looms regardless of whether a trade deal is struck with Brussels, being the consequence of a hard Brexit – leaving the single market and customs union”.

“on the basis of a letter sent by Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove.
“The biggest potential cause of disruption are traders not being ready for controls implemented by EU member states,” the letter reads.”
So, yes, youre correct, so far Gove
s predictions are wrong.
My understanding is that there’s a ‘soft start’ to the paperwork
Went past the checkpoint opposite the park and ride on the M275 Portsmouth yeaterday, yeah I know it was a Sunday, but 1 sad looking XPO wagon in there on the way down and a cluster of bored looking coppers on the way out.
Saw a few tweets from lads going across, straight down and on, correct paperwork, covid test, there’s a screen on the boat, which tells you what lane to use on getting to France, Green and straight thro all paperwork correct.
Wednesday will be the day when the EE start to get here so Friday will tell.
I heard on radio Manchester that vosa/government. Are setting up some.kind of base at Lymn services for people travelling to France think might be a covid test centre can’t find info on it.

It`s at the old Shearing coaches site in Appleton, some kind of inland customs point serving Holyhead, Liverpool, Heysham, and would guess Cairnryan.

Guardian from October:

Warrington is an inland clearance point. Once upon a time would have been called a TIR Park. (One of those things we were told wouldnt be needed because of ANPR and computors) Daresay it won
t be 3 days sat in there though.

Talking of which I came across an old film on Youtube from 1969 about international road transport and TIR which was very interesting. It followed a load of pheasants from the UK to Europe. In it was the mention of a load from grapes from Italy to the Birmingham with guaranteed delivery 36hrs later. I got to thinking to myself that wasn’t actually that much different to how it is now which is quite sad given that the motorway networks were nothing like they are now.
If anyone is interested…

You know that’s been the very basis of news media for as long as it’s existed right? That generally they report news, often bad?

Those of us who said that these 50 mile queues of trucks at Dover were all just a figment of Remoaners’ imaginations?

its only the last couple of years that the blatant fake news has ramped up. an example is “yellow weather warning, worst storm in living memory coming” then just a puff of wind . it can really dragged the spirits down, though my way round it is to do the exact opposite of any “advice” . i was on the A14 recently and an overhead sign said “go home and stay there” i said out loud "FUiRRK ORFF " and decided to pull up and stop awhile at the next exit and extended my time out.
