Double decker idiot on M 25 yesterday

Clockwise the matrix sign was on for a good five miles to warn of lane one shut due to an obstruction.
Everyone moves over, except this prize idiot, who should not have a licence for a skate board, let alone an artic.
The rules do not apply to this Gibbon.
He stays in lane one to the last 200 metres, and there is a stranded car in lane one.
A fuel tanker driver puts on his hazards to warn this brain dead muppet, there is a danger.

I was there when the incident happened that prompted those “RED X MEANS LANE CLOSED” light warnings you now see on the M25 sometimes. There was a lane or two out on the M25 anticlockwise around Staines, because of an accident up ahead, and loads of people – cars and trucks – kept going in that lane until they saw the accident. I’m really surprised that so many people just ignored those warnings, which are rare (unlike spurious reduced speeds on motorways), which are in the Highway Code and the meaning of which is obvious anyway.

Trouble is that they can’t be relied upon. Lost count of the number of times lanes have been ‘shut’ only to discover after several
Miles that there is nothing there.

Coming back from the tunnel the other night 4 lanes into one, well according to the signs. Everyone panics and causes a jam only to discover that the planned works team are still sat on a bridge thinking about it!

Best trundle along until you can see an obstruction would be my advice. Nine times out of 10 you’ll not see anything.

Can you get skate board licenses?

Best re read the highway code rule 258 then. Doesnt say “trundle on anyway till you see whats happening”

Had a S & K muppet go down lane 1 of the 25 today straight through a red X. There were workmen clearing cones from an earlier closure who had to get out the way quick. Driver didn’t seem to care about it.

No but you can get a lobotomy.

Ironically the decker had the firms name written on the back of the trailer, it was 999.
Their phone number was too far away to inform them that their driver needs to go to Specsavers.
I thought if you were in a X closed lane, there will be a fine to pay or points, some new law that has come out, cameras that get you.

+1 getting a bit tired of these matrix signs telling you of problems ahead, when you get to where its supposed to be,nothing, another matrix saying END,end of what, bloody annoying

how many actually adhere to the highway code,be honest, probably about one or two out of a hundred

The muppets that stay in a Red Crossed lane must earn plenty of money because they are risking a £100 fine and 3 points now the law has been changed.

I went through some roadworks on the M6 this week and someone had blatantly smashed into a whole bunch of the cones as they were all over the carriageway.

If you fail to see all the Matrix signs, the 800/600/400/200 yard signs and a sea of flashing cones then you shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near anything with an engine IMO.

My company has started to have letters sent to them about our drivers driving down closed hard shoulders on smart motorways. Overheard them grilling a driver about it earlier this week.

About time too.

The decker moron should not have a Raleigh Drifter or Chopper bike licence, he must have been thick as a plank, moves to lane two when very close to the car that was in lane one, not in the hard shoulder.
The motorway at that time was quite quiet, he had the time and the room to move over miles away.

There has been no change in the law - alternating flashing red lights (and the red X which was a later addition) have always been a mandatory signal to stop or not continue in the lane they are over - and have always had the same penalty as contravening any other red signal like level crossings or traffic lights.

That depends if you want to commit a strict liability offence or not, which the police are frequently enforcing. Have a search of the Pepipoo forums to see how many people are complaining that they have been caught by police who have been watching the red Xs where roadworks are being set out.

‘animals on road’ is my favourite

Only an Idiot would carry on the lane with a red X above it. Its there for a reason even if you dont see it. Also whats with all these wagons parking on the M25 in the authorized vehicle only layby thingy

If you look it up it has been changed the fine was increased from £60 to £100 earlier this year.

All motoring related fixed penalties were increased to £100 two years ago. There has been no change in the law in dealing with these offences, just an increase of the fixed penalty fine.
