Dont seem right?

Afternoon , I got an email from an agency saying I will be getting a telephone interview next week but first I have to fill in there registration form now this includes giving my bank details copy of passport ,driving licence etc etc . Something just is not right ?. I have googled the company and only seem to do hotel staff etc , I tried to phone but no one there atm. I will post a copy of the email , don’t know how to link job description and registration form.

Good Morning,

I have received your CV in application for our tool hire delivery driver vacancy based in Edinburgh. I am extremely please to inform you I have placed you on our interview shortlist for interviews next week. I understand you may have applied for a number of positions so I have attached the job description to this email. The company has telephone interview slots available on Wednesday 1st, Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd next week, I would like to book you in appropriately. The interview will be around 15 – 20 minutes, you will then either be given employment from this or they may ask you to attend a face to face interview with them the following day. The company is great to work for and they also have many extra benefits to working for them.

In order for me to arrange an interview time I must ask you to fill in our agency registration form, you have probably completed similar forms whilst registering with other agency’s. I would normally ask you to come into our office to do this but I can see you are not within our local area, therefor I have attached a copy of our registration form to this email for you to complete.

The form is interactive, simply open the form and complete it on the computer. Once you have completed the form please do not forget to save it by clicking file and then save, otherwise it will come back to us blank with no details. If you have any trouble completing this on the computer you can print, complete by hand, scan and return via email to me.

Please note when returning your form you MUST return it along with two forms of identification, one must be photo id such as a passport or driving licence. The second is proof of address such as a utility bill or council tax etc. These documents must be scanned in and returned via email, alternatively you may high quality photograph your documents, If you photograph the documents please ensure the whole document is in view and all four corners of the document can be seen in the picture. ( I have provided a table below so you can check what is acceptable and what is not )

Please provide ONE document from LIST A and ONE document from LIST B

Maybe paranoid I don’t know lol , but I ain’t handing over any details ligit or not .

What details don’t you want them to have

Bank details really , I could see the point in asking for all the details if I had secured the job .

Standard info required on any job application these days to prevent identity fraud.

Probably right , just being paranoid lol .

But it’s just a form they can’t do anything with them they couldn’t do when your working there.

What do you think the highlighted bit means?

I would wager the agency want you registered with them so that if you are successful they can get their fee from the company/you. Just imagine you don’t register get the job and then deny that you had any contact with the agency in the recruitment process. They may want the bank details so as to get their payroll database prepared so that you can be paid in a timely manner should you be successful. This may seem harsh but so many companies have “outsourced” HR functions now so it’s likely to become the norm more often. Agencies are a fact of life and the hard part is identifying and avoiding the bad ones, bit like identifying and avoiding the bad companies.

Google map the place and have a gander at street view. Theres a 2015 Google watermark superimposed on the black (empty) shop fascia. Besides "luckyvoice.com" on the 1st floor, i cant see if the other floors are commercially occupied
Dont honestly know whats what tbh mate, but personally couldnt be arsed jumping through all those hoops just for a poxy telephone chat with whoever. Im equally wary of giving any of my details out, so understand your reluctance. Im assuming youve met no-one face to face regarding this?
More than likely legit. Id still pass though, but thats just cranky old me!!

Don’t even think about giving bank details via email. No reputable company will ask you for bank details via email.

Not exactly a “job application” in the conventional sense though, is it?

I wouldn’t send details to any company, who’s letters are riddled with simple spelling mistakes.

I never understood why all the “damaging type” data is requested (ie that data which would aid identity theft) when the official paperwork bits could be brought in at interview stage.

Firms shouldn’t be so paranoid as to worry about shortlisting an applicant, only to find that once in front of them - they turn out to have a background full of holes…

A utility bill as proof of address plus a copy of driving licence should be plenty enough before inviting an applicant for interview.
Bank details won’t be required until perhaps a single person out of a likely many dozen applicants - has been actually offered the job.

It seems reasonable therefore not to expect a firm to request such alarm-bell-ringing details as this before that point.
“Telephone interviewing” also rings alarm bells. Well at least mine. :open_mouth:
A firm isn’t going to offer a job to someone they’ve never met, so it doesn’t seem reasonable to be interviewed over the phone in such a way that all the data collected could be abused, and you don’t even know where to go for comeback if anything goes wrong… All a “Firm’s” representatives having non-geographic phone numbers also fails to inspire confidence. :exclamation:

or just give the false bank details change a few account number digits who will know.

or just give the false bank details change a few account number digits who will know.

The OP would then be giving them someone elses bank details instead, possibly opening up a BIG can of worms :open_mouth:

what with the same name and sort code . if it was that easy they wudnt need to fish for details

I never give bank details until I am actually working for an agency and if I don’t get paid the first week while they sort it then so be it,it can go on the second weeks pay, best way imo,cos if you start with them at least you know they are genuine

Seems pretty standard info that agencies ask for although never had to supply it by email before. Don’t give bank details though, leave that bit blank and they can ask for these at a later date.

To all those bleating on about not giving your bank details…

You do that every time you write a cheque. What are they going to be able to do other than pay money into your account?

As for wanting a copy of your driving license and passport, they’re legally required to make sure you have the right to work in the UK.

Oh the irony. It is “whose” letters, not “who’s” letters…
