That’s in your mind and not necessarily what others think. It hopefuuly sends out a signal to try to make others think. Some drivers seem to have a problem with people in authority who can expose the ongoing problems caused by bad transport management and irresponsible drivers who flout the law on a day to day basis. I would imagine you will hate the traffic cops as well.
Well your imagination is what it is. I have made posts defending traffic and other cops, and I have absolutely nothing against people in authority - somebody has to be, after all.

Hahaha bloody hell, how hard is it to be able to separate criticism of the use of self-congratulatory, badly spelled guff by a government agency who should know better, from the act of prohibiting a vehicle?
Of course it should be off the road, who in their right mind wants to see that being driven around in that state?

Post the picture (if you must) maybe with advice about wheelnuts and leave it at that.
Claiming to have saved lives is pure speculation, at best. Govt agencies should be and be seen to be above this kind of nonsense.
Exactly right…Oh, and for what it’s worth, I got you original post
OK, serious question here. Does anyone think this could have developed over the course of a single shift? Maybe 7-8 hours of giving it some wellie, maybe with weight on? I’ve lost a couple of studs myself over the years, but the only one I ever heard go was a steer axle one. Maybe - just maybe- the driver could be innocent.

Most definitely. One theory could be if the nuts were not tightened correctly after a tyre change or a wheel change and the vehicle was loaded they may stay secure with weight but after load has gone they will then start to really work there way loose. This happened to a driver I worked with many years ago. Luckily for him he was warned by another driver when pulling in a yard before disaster struck.
Even the way you describe things it’s still the drivers responsibility to keep checking and checking although most of us don’t.
That’s not just a couple of studs failing - those nuts have been loose for a good few hundred miles, resulting in significant elongation of the rim holes.

Phew! I was starting to worry there! Cheers
No concern required Chief. John is one of the diamonds amongst cubic zirconia
There are others amongst us who wield mental scalpels rather than plastic party knives but I am sure you know the score…

That’s shocking, but so is the hyperbole about “undoubtably” (what ever that means) saving lives.
So given that looking at that picture there’s actually only one wheelnut holding the wheel on what do you think is going to happen when that wheel departed at 56MPH and bounced down the road undoubtedly into another vehicle?

Another one with the gift of prescience, they’re all out tonight. You have as much an idea as I do of when or where it would have happened, where it would have gone, and what it would have hit. Namely, none.
When they were trumpeting, on Twitter, the half dozen max vehicles they’d found with defective lights, from one of their special all day crackdowns where there’d probably pulled in hundreds a helpful member of the public alerted them to this cowboy outfit where the driver clearly hadn’t done their walkarounds.
It could have happend during a shift maybe ? I had a new trye fitted to the back axle of the trailer one day, they gave me a coffee while the guy fitted it then got the all clear to go, I signed invoice and off I went leaving Halesowen and up to Llyods animal feeds in Morda Oswestry. I got to the last turning left about a mile from there yard stopped at T junction and the new tyre/wheel just fell off good job I saw it in the mirror, there fitter came out to me and put the 3 wheel nuts I had left back on and I then limpped to the yard to tip then waited for a new wheel and trye to be fitted.
It turned out the guy that fitted the new tyre had not used a tork wrench to finaley tighten them up, but I was told to check them befor the day was over,
when I think back as I came down the M54 I knocked it out of stick (as you do) LOL and I was Kin flying if they had come off then I maybe might not have been here to tell the story or some other poor sod.
It’s frightening to witness, but I’ve been in several yards over the years where the “old boy” just jumps in the truck and goes down the road within minutes of picking up the keys, without doing a walk around. Some of the yards had a policy of a set standing time of poa (ie 15mins) after the card was inserted, but there was no way they could have done that before they drove away.

You must remember there’s always one self righteous prat that tries to start an argument.
Really, pick on old jake time is it? I tried to start an argument, did I ? Where exactly? I disagreed about the message from DVSA , that’s all.
Seems like if you disagree on here you become a self righteous prat (in your words) well sorry but I thought that’s what forums were all about.
We are back to Holland on Monday so I will leave you lot to discuss amongst yourselves. Have fun.
Drempels as a matter of interest how would you have worded the statement written by the DVSA that you thought was written by a teenager?
I will say it definitely was not written by an author though.

As it was posted on soshal meeja it is aimed at a very broad church, so instead of the hysteria, squashed kittens, buses full of orphans etc, why not post a picture of the offending vehicle followed by something like “vehicle stopped with serious defects, c’mon guys n gals a basic walkaround check is all it takes to ensure we all go home safely at the end of the day”?

Have you ever considered the bizzare possibility that you could bring a lot of it on yourself by your constant self opinionated points?? .
To paraphrase Dremples.it all just the usual ‘‘Corporate rhetoric, self congratulatory, Pr polished pretentious crap’’… the type of which you get from the Old Bill in fact, (who you love) when they happen to catch a real criminal for a change, or try and put a positive spin on some trivial ■■■■■■■■ they insist is ‘‘important to the public safety’’ …so presumably unsurprisingly to you, I agree with him.
As for the self righteous prat bit?..hmm, jury still out on that one, but I’ll get back to you on it…

Yes, I agree that would probably be better but put yourself in their position. Think what they see everyday and the abuse they get from drivers. Maybe just maybe it’s their way of getting back!
And it seems to work in some cases.

Of course but I find it fun in a strange sort of way. And no, I don’t love the old bill but I do have more respect for them than others but of course we all see things from different angles.
I may come across as self righteous sometimes ( i admit it ) but I can assure you in real life that could not be further from the truth.
