Don’t all rush at once

YHL, you got a number for them?

the maoster:
They’re not the only GXO drivers getting made redundant! :imp:

Surely not ,if yes that’s Grantham area about finished for any decent size haulage firms , brakes about it
Years ago had irlams , b&q , salvesens , acc etc

toonsy:
Nights at my place (contracted 42.5hrs week/9.25hrs daily) would get £61,600 with no overtime.

Even reduce theoretically to eight hours (10pm to 6am) and it would be £55,600.

Company generated over £65 billion I think last year, profit of £2.6 billion.

■■? One of our drivers wants to move across to Tesco and he’d happily do nights. However it’s no where close to them figures you’ve mentioned. It’s still in the 40’s. One of the best payers is Home Bargains and even their night rate is less than the above.

the maoster:
Thanks mate. It’s not all doom and gloom because I have a theory that we’ll finish on a Friday and start there on the next Monday wearing different uniforms but with a nice cheque in the bank.

We are definitely getting redundancy as much as it may stick in their throats. We get a long negotiated enhanced package with some of the long termers receiving 60 weeks wages!

Surely you’d be tuped over if a company was taking over the work the next day , if there going to finish you then take you back on via redundancy then I’d of thought that can only be because the new company doesn’t want to pay the existing t&c ,s ( can they even do that ? ) ,
Redundancy is fine but if your new t&c are worse then you’ll end up using your redundancy to supplement yourbloss of wages
All the best either way
Nb don’t fret though you’ll get use to b/ h , weekend etc at flat rate , no sick pay etc etc , and it will do you good to stand on your own two feet rather than having the union supporting you all the time
Best of luck whatever

I’m assuming as its DHL there is a drivers union on site ? If so thats a great advertisement for the so called strength of a union and what it can do for their members . Thats a disgrace of a pay rate - no difference between 4 on 4 off nights- £38,638 and Any 5 from 7 Nights - £38,638 .
£38638 by 52 weeks =£743/ week and if thats top line ( because they all love to quote top line not what actually ends up in your bank ) minus 25% for tax and insurance leaves you with £557 a week . Even here in Northern Ireland the land that time forgot thats a pretty poor wage .
The so called benefits package had better include free parking on site and a free uniform . :open_mouth:
Is this in the so called "Golden Triange " area I hear so many drivers on about ?

£38638 take home pay is £582.62 per week £2524.68 per month… thesalarycalculator.co.uk/salary.php
And as said above by another poster that is based on a 42 hour week so on that salary it is £17.70 per hour.

Over the last 12 weeks I averaged 40 hours a week and after deductions (tax, N.I. and pensions) I’m banking well over £700/ week - £18 .50 per hour AFTER TAX, N.I AND PENSION ) . I’ll just remind you thats a N. Ireland wage with no union involvment and I could easliy get more at other firms (I know for a fact I could be earning more but would have to put in a lot more hours for it ) - seems the wages in the mainland UK are taking a nosedive . Based on the great praise on here by some members for a workplace union I am shocked that this is an acceptable wage in an area thats always been touted as one of the better areas of the UK to work in .
Honestly I really thought the grass was greener - seems I was very wrong .

And I bet you don’t get out of bed at midnight on a Saturday night ,& have to sit outside tesco Goole at 3 am waiting for your booking time !!! Grrrr angry driver !!!

Your right Dozy - we try to stay as far away from RDC’s and the like , losing 3,4 6 hours in those holes ain’t for us . I see others saying they “know how to milk the system” thats just not our style - we work hard and we get the work done then we are happy to get parked up . We don’t abuse the system our boss knows we don’t and we get looked after by being paid well. Nobody drags it out and nobody gets asked to do stupid things .

Why? Why do you keep doing this ? You have told us numerous times how you hate the job. Hate the planners stitching you up, gate the early starts. Hate the nights out…
You have told us numerous times that your house is paid off, you have big pensions, and savings in the bank, and you are at retirement age.

Why, dozy, do you keep working these sjite jobs, that you so despise■■?

(You remind of the the miserable got, that I’ve met at almost every company I’ve worked for, who, when they first meet you, start by telling you that “you’ve made a mistake, this is a shift company, absolute crap, boss is a twunt, work is crap, worst place ever”…
So I ask how long he’s been there?
25 years, but I’m not going to be much longer … Blah…blah…blah…

No TUPE I’m afraid. It’s a clean break and they’ve already started the consultation process so I’m not sure of the legalities of this anyway. There’s only one company I can think of with the necessary clout to put a whole fleet of units and trailers (and tugs) in there anyway.

I’ve spoken to the reps of this company anyway and whilst their T’s & C’s certainly don’t match our current ones they aren’t a million miles away, so it’s endurable I suppose.

He’s talking about…

TUPE and other silly nonsense.

Bump 'n Dump tippers offer rigger boots, dungarees and first pick on anything you find in the load!

Can’t see what your problem is.

That pay rate is no disgrace. For 4o4o nights anyway, 42 hours. Certainly in Manchester. Sure there’s ones that pay more but not many.
As someone said 17.70 an hour basic rate. If you can’t survive on that you’re in the wrong job.

Any 5 out of 7 having the same pay rate as 4-on-4-off essentially means DHL just sees weekends as the same as any other day of the week. Any 5 out of 7 means you could be signing up to work every weekend for no enhancement in pay.

Only positive is that they have kept the base hours at 42 rather than inflating to 48, which I know for a fact they sometimes do.

Nodding donkey , can’t reply to your question earlier as says i can’t imbed another quote
so why do i do the job i do , because nothing in my area pays anywhere near my wage ( most are 1 k ish pw gross )

You must ■■■■ a lot of ■■■■ and be open all hours to be on £145k+ as that’s what your claiming.

Let’s see the hourly rate and hours worked, plus quarterly bonus etc plus payrise back pay or whatever else that’s made up from. If that is a genuine regular weeks take home then I’ve got a bigger twanger than John Holmes.

Had to Google John Holmes  .
But yeh +1 what you say.

£34650 ÷3.5=£9900
£9900*5=£49500
So they are offering the equivilent of nearly £50k for 5 nights, not the worse pay

That’s a theoretical value that you are quoting, and not the actual value.

Judging by the number of job notifications I receive, they want a wide variety of transport related roles filling at Mantonwood Worksop (planners, clerks, FLM’s drivers etc) as this particular recruitment for drivers was only one of half a dozen jobs notifications that landed in my inbox on one email
