Looks like the lad is heading north next weekend and to be honest he is more exited than a kid looking forward to Christmas.Does it still hold the same glamour?
Fair play to him, back in the early 80s i can remember feeling the same way when i got my first run “up there” back in the day when the M5 was two lanes and at Carlisle it was the A74 .
Plenty of cafes back then but i dare say he will tear up there(hes in a 3.5 t)and wont listen to his dad, like i didnt to mine.
Is the cafe at Newtonmore still worth a visit?
I like a wee dram myself!
It still adverts in truckstop news but the motor grill at ballinluig is good too ,he best take a snow shovel and a bag of salt soon too .

Tell him to be careful of the haggis.
Its the mating season just now and they tend to get quite aggressive
Don’t worry, Juddian will be along soon to regale you with a few fond nostalgic memories of his trips up there in something like an AEC Matator!
Yep, I’m getting more necky now I’m Class 1 mate!

Yep, but as long as you keep an eye out around the clockwise side of a hill, you’ll be OK.
With their legs being shorter on one side, they roll down the hill if they try to go the other way around!
Border control at Gretna (should be anyway)

How would you know as you live at the mucky end of the country ? and they have short back legs for running down hill not on one side, Aye !

Ah see thats a common mistake. Lots of people think that but they actually have three legs. And the smaller one at the side is to help them get round corners on hills quicker.
I know,my dad and I went haggis hunting when I was younger.
Its actually the loch ness monster that has the shorter back legs but thats only so it can get closer to the bottom of the Loch when it sees a boat coming
I enjoyed haggis until I read the ingredients list
Nice folks up there but I just can’t understand at times what there telling me to do
