Yes and no. Yes if you only do domestic work, but you’ll need one if you want to do international. Much the same as the 9% of businesses that export will have to still toe the eu line, but the other 91% can use domestic regulations

Did you get those statistics from Nigel Farage?

Yes and anyone will be able to fit a gas boiler or do electric work. Maybe yo will be lucky and they will change it so you have to pass a test that should put the wages up when half fail, then again they could bring drivers in from poland as there will be work for them.

No, I used my brain to deduce things like the dcpc were the “red tape” leave eluded to

That was the figures banded around for Eu export, and it was an unchallenged one. Don’t forget that’s volume of companies, not volume of goods. Most eu trade is repeat business
Can’t help thinking with all the other issues arising as a result of Brexit, changing things like this and drivers hours etc will be very low priority.
I agree, this stuff, while of great importance to us, is going to be of relatively little importance to the political class, and I doubt it will change, after all, its a fairly hassle free source of income, why touch it?

I agree, I can’t see the DCPC being done away with any time soon, even when we’re out of the EU I think the DCPC could be changed rather than squashed.

Why?.. We managed for years without it, we should be taking the opportunity now to reduce this type of bureaucracy for bureaucracy’s sake, now the EU has been kicked into touch.
We have all endured this crap charade now and got the so called ‘‘qualification’’ so that should be that, end of for the guys that have it, and a new system of genuine training (not money generating training )given to new unqualified drivers only alongside their driver training.

Norway has Dcpc. And along with Switzerland run to EU tacho rules if I recall?

Due to the nature of their geographic locations, size and volume of export traffic. As I said earlier, we would have to comply to the same legislations to travel inside the eu. I’ve said before, the likelihood is the eu drivers regs will remain, as it’s a pointless excercise to rip them up and administer something almost identical, after all we’re all about cutting red tape. But it’s an ideal time to chuck out the dcpc. If you need it, it will be there, but the likes of Tesco, Asda, Argos etc, plus 99% of tipper firms won’t have to deal with it.
Drivers’ Hours, WTD, DCPC etc are enshrined in UK law, they’ll be here for a very long time yet.

A LAW GURU was on BBC TV explaining that once we have actually split from the EU then Govt will need to go through many of the laws which is going to take ages …
Certainly will not need DCPC to drive in EU after we have split - do drivers from Russia for example need it
Speed limiters are going to be an interesting one …

No, but drivers in Norway do for example.
I can’t see why this will really change, as why would the UK move out of step with the EU on this?
It’s small fry compared to most of the issues the government now need to deal with…
While I may not like it, I’m not going to get that upset if I have to do one days supposed training a year!
What would be nice though, is if more things could be counted as training…
I think the DCPC system is likely to be marked as “good idea - to be retained” for the foreseeable future. OK, we won’t have to implement any changes that the EU lawmakers implement, but I certainly don’t see it going away any time before I retire (in 2026, God willing).

That’s why though. It’s small fry. An easy way to pacify a chunk of the populace by getting rid of something of trivial importance to the UK government. If we leave the EU and they don’t chop a healthy chunk of EU nonsense there’d be civil unrest. Changes will have to be made.

We also supposedly managed doing Austria and back 3 times a week before. Now people moan about doing a 15 hour shift. I doubt much will change re cpc etc.
I was interestingly told how dhl do things with new starters which makes your license and cpc worthless until they sign you of.
