Does anyone remember yardleys transport in leeds

Yes my old man ken Jackson worked for them 60s and 70s

here’s a couple off bob Hobbs na3t site

That picture of the Foden fetched back some memories ! Used to know a couple of the lads that drove them many moons ago cant put names to them unfortunately, i do know one of them was built like a brick outhouse and a laugh a minute. If i remember rightly those moters only had 180,s in them but they certainly looked the part with the " safari cab " they always tilted back making them look heavy on the drive axle even when empty.

used to know a driver called eric richardson who worked for them,he smoked a pipe

My dad always remembers the size off the rats out off the beck and the night watchman used to have a rifle for shooting them.

i remember yardleys late 50s early 60s they had some smart motors , they loaded fruit out of the old covent garden.

my dad drove one of those ‘‘safari cabbed’’ fodens for yardley! I also know Eric Richardson aka Snekky cos of his big hooter!!! And Jessicas dad i also know your dad, Sandy the cockney jock! I ran with him down to Swiss a few times when he worked at devanney.

Did Mick Earnshaw end up at Sanmar in the late 80’s early 90’s? Eric Richardson became an owner driver starting with an 8 legger maggi then eventually working his way upto a grey 6x4 foden pulling Toe trailers out of Newhaven and doing a bit for Sanmar too! When he retired he sold his farm near Harrogate and bought a small house in Ripon. Last time i saw him in Ripon he was still chewin on a pipe and wearing clogs!!!

Thats just a modern piccy of the spa garage! Yardleys yard was about a mile or so further up meanwood road, you turned onto Buslingthorpe lane and the yard was on the right just before the beck in the first picture. They had another newer entrance that came out onto Buslingthorpe green then onto Meanwood road!

Yardley transport Leeds 7, in the 1960`s ran Leyland Comet or super Comets and Badgers both with tandems ,often seen on A1 to London , all dark blue cabin back then , with i think white letters ,have pic of back of Comet and tandem , if i find ,hope to.
