Do you want this?

epidm.edgesuite.net/RBI/roadtran … 00608.html

i will sign up

I accidently deleted a post made from a 2nd account of a member who is on premoderation, I apologise for my error.
To paraphrase his post he said No as he he felt we may sell his e-mail address.

If we wanted to sell your e-mail addresses we would have done by now. seeing as we have been here for around 10 years. But we find that selling of e-mail addresses as obnoxious as most of you so simply dont!

he also said he felt we would spam his e-mail box.

95% of members here when they signed up said they would accept e-mails from the administrators of theis site… that means we can if we desired send lots of mails out, but we dont seem to have done that, , because funnily enough we dont like spam either.

Lets be very clear here

WE could quite legaly send every registered member on here a newsletter once a week wether they wanted it or not, and give them the option to opt out.

We dont think thats the right way to do it, We think that it should be your decision alone wether to receive this newletter which is why we will be going for an OPT IN approach, If you dont yourself make the effort to sign up for it, you wont get it.

We MAY offer you the opportunity to recieve other e-mails from other parts of RBI or partner compnaies, but guess what … it will not be automatic YOU will have to OPT IN, if you dont want them you wont get them.

We MAY send a ONE OFF mail to all those who agreed to receive mails from us announcing the launch of the newletter and inviting people to sign up for it with a link.

I hope that answers the concerns the member has and again my apologies for accidently deleting his post…

I only used a second account Rikki because I had forgot my password sorted that now, I still wouldn’t want the emails though I don’t see the need as it’s either on here or on the other Forums already and personally I don’t want adverts in my email box each to their own I suppose.
Nice to see the pre-mod system is thoroughly checked before deletion

Not a problem I hope I addressed your questions/worries as you dont seem to have responded to those specific issues you raised

Where’s the poll ■■?

he’s gone home, due to the exchange rate.

will reading your e-mail, with relevent transport information count towards my driver cpc?

Quality

Will you be offering me cheap ■■■■■■ and paying me £100,000 to use my bank account? If so, count me in! (Some Paris Hilton adult pics would be nice too).

Yes Please

Yes please - I would opt-in.

Count me in Rikki. :sunglasses:

I’d look forward to a weekly email.

I would be interested to give it a go. i don’t read any mags so this site is my only source of info, to havew the important stuff in one e-mail sounds like a good idea.

I really don’t see why anyone has a problem with this. Take the first one - have a look - if you don’t like it then unsubscribe.

Just do it Rikki.

Send the first one to everyone, and include an invite to “opt-in” . (not opt-out)

You will know by the number of ‘subscriptions’ as to whether it’s worth doing it!

You didn’t really need to ask us. The downside of asking is that many won’t quite understand,
that is now a proven point!

Regards.

valid point, look at this thread as a bit of market research, to guage the reaction  We get a fair amount of criticism ( a little of which is valid  and not trolling  ) and we wanted to hear opinions and concerns and try to put the concerns to rest before we launched this project

Sorry but that’s not a valid point at all :open_mouth:

What 206doorman is suggesting is to spam the whole Trucknet UK membership which wouldl almost certainly get you more criticism than you get now.

I would probably opt in but if the email turned out to simply be promoting RBIs interests then I’d tend to see the whole thing as spam and opt out again.

I’d have no problem with some advertising as long as the general email content of the email was likely to be of general interest and not mostly devoted to RBIs interests or the interests of any other commercial business.

How about creating a PDF sample and putting it somewhere that we can download it to get a better general idea of the intended content.

tachograph, indeed I was suggesting sending one mail to all, once only.

Getting a once-off mail from an organisation you’ve already subscribed to,are interested in,and maybe contribute to,is outside my definition of spam.

ok i give it a go but if no good can we opt out

NO thanks i carnt read anyway

we know that but you could look at the pretty pictures!

For someone like me away most of the week this could be handy in pointing out news stories I may have missed, sign me up Riki, with an option to opt out if I find more adverts than news.

No thanks, it would be a waste of time as I hardly ever check my email these days, sometimes it can be 6 or 7 weeks without checking so stuff would be out of date by the time I got round to reading it.

Rikki as long as it covers the whole of industry ie national and international as i do international mainly then that would be really helpful as unlike some of the guys on here im poor and have to wait till i get home to have a read up :frowning: :frowning:
