Do you know what an OCRS is?

PLEASE READ BEFORE VOTING:

Following on from the “Vosa trying to stop you from behind” thread I thought it would be interesting to run a poll on this. If you are or have been transport office based, a CPC holder or are or have been an owner driver, please don’t answer. This one’s for the employed drivers.

If you vote yes, please don’t go explaining what it is here & so skew the pole by giving the answer to those who might otherwise have voted no.

We’ll discuss it after the poll ends at the end of the year.

Perhaps a mod could prevent people from posting here because it’s only a matter of time before some fanny blerts it out…

Don’t confuse anyone and now you have spoilt the poll.

The OCRS is part of the International Roller Sports Federation, or FIRS. Varieties of skating governed by the OCRS include:

  • Inline Downhill
  • Roller hockey
  • Inline hockey
  • Speedskating

Isnt he a member on here? He crashed his car in the snow last week up in scotland.

not sure if i cheated, cos i googled it before voting :smiling_imp:

I bet you pulled the wings off small creatures when you were a brat!

Even after I’ve googled it and read a bit, I still have no idea what they are waffling on about!

…and that’s the right way to do it brett, thank you. Vote first, then satisfy your curiosity if you’re interested enough.

I voted no, then had a looksee and realised i have heard of it, i just didn’t know what it was called officially.

That could be the polish Lad who works in the Warehouse here :bulb:

Nothing new , it`s been there for years and years ,
we know who you are … :sunglasses:

Well I’m amazed. We’ve previously established that drivers who find their way onto the internet & into Trucknet are of above average driver intelligence. Yet still the poll is a near 50/50 split. So one would assume if an average cross section of drivers were to be asked, less than 50% would know what OCRS is.

If I were going for a driving job interview, the question “What is your OCRS score”? would be at the top of my list. If it were red, I’d be terminating the interview there & then.

Its thought there are around 500,000 LGV license holders in the UK. Leaving self employed drivers out, say 50,000, leaving (say) 50% of 450,000 drivers who don’t know what it is. That’s a lot.

I was going to explain the meaning, but it seems good old Diesel Dave has done a superb job of doing so over 2 years ago. Thanks DD. Here:

Well obviously I do know what OCRS means and what it’s intentions are, but I imagine if that is your first question at interview, you will be writing a lot of covering letters and CV.

A company who knows their own score has obviously had recent dealings with the establishment, the rest will just think you are talking a foreign language

no

OCRS is simply a computerised version of choosing who to stop. Even 20 years ago the then Vehicle Inspectorate would have a fair idea who to check without needing a computer. The only difference is the VI had intelligent staff who could think for themselves, unlike the current bunch of brainless inbreeds who don’t know one end of a truck from another.

Having seen VOSA in operation many times I wouldn’t trust them as far as I could throw one so I would never pay any attention to an operators OCRS. All it takes is one jumped up Hitler who hasn’t been laid for a week to send a perfectly legit company into amber.
