And after viewing that I’m voting YES …

I can’t be arsed to watch whatever it is but they always seem to be in a hurry to get somewhere.

Looks like an a&a skips lorry, they run out of edmonton

I was expecting to see a skip overtaking, then crap falling off the back ive had that a fair few times!

It does not matter what type of vehicle you drive. There are probably some good skip lorry drivers and some bad.
There are certainly a lot of lorry drivers in general that give us a bad reputation by their aggressive driving.

Most skip drivers seem to have about as much road sense as a flat hedgehog but slightly more than the average Royal mail driver imo.
Tin hat adorned at a jaunty angle.

I would say that about quite a lot of lorry drivers whether it be tankers tippers low loaders flat trailers or curtainsiders.
Standards in general are appalling from far to many.

Skip lorry drivers do tend to stick out like a sore thumb on the road, skills wise.
They’re like the noob young lad car drivers with their first car of the HGV world.

I’ve met some very courteous and helpful skip drivers.

But other side of coin would be that I followed a skip lorry on the A5 near Hinckley with my hand on the horn as the un-sheeted over height load was loosing breeze blocks. After the 3rd swerve-and-miss with me going mad on the lights and horn he kindly stopped to “punch my face in” and I managed to comment that I was lucky I still had a face and point at his load before he started. Fair do’s he did then apologise so I helped him clear up. They have a bit too much faith in gravity sometimes :unamused:

Talking to a builders merchant crane lorry driver only yesterday about problems accessing residential roads etc.

He said the worst single problem he encounters are poorly positioned skips. He said he could understand car drivers etc not knowing how much room is required by lorries, but a skip, by definition, must have been positioned by a lorry driver.

So it wasn’t ignorance…just arrogance.

don’t worry about the hat they couldn’t hit the side of a barn if it was 1foot in front of em

I think it’s unfair to label all skip drivers the same as that one or the same as the few that tear around like idiots they seem to have got a bad reputation that will never shift thus the perception that all skip drivers are ■■■■■■ There are skip drivers that take pride in there work look after there equipment and drive carefully and sensibly In the tight places they spend there day then there are the idiot ones who drive 50 mph past a school at 3pm making the rest look like idiots to but there are drivers in artics who believe they are much superior doing the same thing, there are good and bad in all walks off life. That said the driver In that clip is one off the ■■■■■ who give all skip drivers the same label.

Ask the one that tried to go under the 9’6" bridge at West Byfleet earlier this week when loaded up with two skips

If you watch the video,

you will notice that he was coming down the Off-Ramp (again’st the flow of traffic).

Maybe he was blindly following his sat-nav instructions

Hopefully no body was hurt.

it’s a ‘Flip Flop’ bridge, that the old Bill use to go back down the motorway to chase Dangerous HGV drivers that they see ‘Eating a Grape’ on the other carriageway. Also looks like access to Great Gregories Farm, so the ‘Crazy Skip Driver’ might have taken the wrong turn after just picking up a skip.

Good job we don’t still have public Hangings or the poor bloke would have been Hung Drawn & Quartered on here by now ! :unamused:

Having said that, I’ve known a few skip drivers who I wouldn’t even let drive a milk float if I had my way. One bloke I knew even used to chase people down the road to ‘Cut them Up’ because they had cut him up on a roundabout. (He had Anger Management in the end !) God only knows what he’d be like in an Artic :open_mouth:

I think all skip drivers are rubbish … especially Kevin

Done 3 days on a skip lorry this week hardest 3 days ive worked in years

I knew you were secretly watching this thread

I was doing a fancy supermarket job the other day and this skip driver came to collect the skip from a nearby dead end street. My lorry was in his way so he had to wait. We started talking and he was like - See you are doing a nice job, like clean supermarket stuff and all that…I do dirty job (he used a different word) and I don’t like it… - Then he went all destructive about all drivers on the road and angry and all that. So in my opinion some skip drivers might as well just be frustrated and see everything in a negative way so their driving can become negative. However I have not one friend who do skips and happy all around…
