Must admit, I find skip/tippers drivers the worst hgv drivers on the road, always seem to be in a major rush…
pt6615:
I was doing a fancy supermarket job the other day and this skip driver came to collect the skip from a nearby dead end street. My lorry was in his way so he had to wait. We started talking and he was like - See you are doing a nice job, like clean supermarket stuff and all that…I do dirty job (he used a different word) and I don’t like it… - Then he went all destructive about all drivers on the road and angry and all that. So in my opinion some skip drivers might as well just be frustrated and see everything in a negative way so their driving can become negative. However I have not one friend who do skips and happy all around…
Out of interest. . What is “a fancy supermarket job”?
M&S instead of Asda

Talking to a builders merchant crane lorry driver only yesterday about problems accessing residential roads etc.He said the worst single problem he encounters are poorly positioned skips. He said he could understand car drivers etc not knowing how much room is required by lorries, but a skip, by definition, must have been positioned by a lorry driver.
So it wasn’t ignorance…just arrogance.
Revenge is simple if you’re on a HIAB lorry yourself. Simply pick the skip up (assuming your crane can hack it) and dump it on the front lawn or better still in front of the door if you can reach.
Yes I thought that, I’ve got no problems with relocating skips when required. Although it’s amazing how much weight a humble skiplifter can pick up, some skips would need a beefy Hiab to shift them with.

I was expecting that ! It was Waitrose actually but that’s not why I called it fancy but because of the way the skip driver presented it.
Yes skip work can be quite physical and dirty and its more skilled than people realise. Very rare to go insomewhere where you can drop the empty and pick a full one and go.
But at the same time theres no sitting in sime rdc waiting room for hours on end and the hours are fairly set so you can plan a life round it. Money tendd to be quite good for what it is round our way too.
In just the past few weeks I’ve seen some brilliant driving from skip drivers. I was doing a drop on a one way street in a residential area and a skip truck had came in thru the no entry, and managed to get stuck as well.
The other time I came up to some traffic lights, two lanes. I wanted to go right in the right hand lane but waited as there was a queue. A skip truck decides to drive down the wrong side of the road and then cuts in so he can get into the lane to go right, he was also on his mobile and not indicating. You could’nt make it up…
Class two bulk tippers are also really bad drivers. Like skip drivers they race around going as fast as possible to do as many drops as possible. I can understand why they want to do as much work as poss but driving dangerously to save a few seconds is’nt the way to do it.
Why is it that whenever somebody comes past at breakneck speed do I later pull up behind/next to them at the lights?
It got you nowhere

What’s them then
Judging by some of the threads on this site…you’re all as bad as each other…so skip drivers are no different.
