To the drivers who were helpful and constructive I thank you. To the less than constructive drivers who have posted somewhat rather insulting comments thank you also for taking up time posting. Everyone is entitled to an opinion however next time I want the opinion’s of idiots I know where to find YOU!
Again thankyou for the directions and info posted. The reason I asked is there was no other drivers in yard at 0100 and I see trucknet as a big yard. As with any yards there are the helpful, friendly drivers whom I would get the drinks in for. And the other clowns whom I wouldn’t.
The only “idiot” here is yourself by being too lazy and/or thick to use any of the 1000s of tools available at your fingertips. The “newbie” bit of your name says it all really; typical modern day driver that doesn’t know one end of a truck from the other.
Yep you are right I don’t know a thing about driving or trucks or about the 1000s of tools available at.my fingertips. I also have to agree that I am lazy. How very astute of you, such perceptive and analytical skills you have. Surely with such a skill-set you are wasted as a lorry driver. However what would I know after all I am thick also. This comment is a ‘bit rich’ coming from someone whom resorts to swearing in his posts as his command of the English language is that poor he cannot express himself adequately without utilising gutteral obscenities. However I have wasted enough of my all tlo valuable time on a baffoon like yourself and bid you good day sir
Good grief, he’s asking for directions to B&Q RDC Swindon not some farm or place up a lane out in the sticks. You won’t even finish typing it into Google before it offers the address & a map. I think I might suggest this topic as a module for the next round of DCPC. I’ll call it “how to find your backside with both hands”
I know it is not just you. Hence my saying there are “clowns” in an earlier post indicating plural as in more than just 1. Sure I seem to remember a tutor telling me “no matter how daft you think the question is always ask”. I couldn’t care less whether you would be too embarrassed to ask a question I am not and have received some very good information. So whatever you may think when I am unsure I will ask if you don’t like it don’t reply. Or maybe in your sad little meaningless dull life the only joy.you get is by trying to belittle people■■?
There isn’t a B & Q in Swindon.
There’s an S, a W, an I…

Now now, no need to get embarrassed because you’ve been called out. It’s not a stupid question, it’s a lazy question. In the time it took you to post it you could have had the answer yourself. Maybe you were just lonely and wanted someone to bond with. Just think to yourself, how would I have got there without tinternet & next time give it a go, you’ll feel a lot better about yourself.

Billy why are you using up so much energy slating him ? Nothing wrong with the question he might have been given some tips on short cuts or roads to avoid plus he had some places of culinary interest he might like to visit from our food critic Tobes.
Having lived in Chippenham I would say it would be easier to get to his destination blindfold than find anything of culinary interest around Swindon.
Would that be Colerne rather than Chippenham Billy?
the maoster:
Would that be Colerne rather than Chippenham Billy?
No, if I’d meant colerne I would have put colerne instead of Chippenham. I can see why you might think that, me being ex army & colerne having an army camp, as does malmesbury which is closer to Chippenham, but no, I never went to either.

Exactly…That’s all he did.
If you didn’t want to tell him why not ignore the post?

What’s so hard about typing “B&Q RDC Swindon” into google to obtain the postcode SN3 4QS and then typing said postcode into googlemaps? Do you have people wipe your arse for you as well because you can’t do that either?
Well for a start, that’s not actually the correct postcode for the logistics park where the B&Q RDC is situated (Which is SN3 4TZ). Yes, it is very close by, but it’s Highworth Road, a residential street (Didn’t someone park a B&Q artic in a front garden there not so long ago? Maybe the driver was using Google Maps to navigate?).
Many of us can quote how it used to be years ago, we didnt have mobile phones, internet, sat navs or trucknet we just had a good road atlas and ourselves. In my case i would normally head towards the town centre and stop at a garage, or an estate agents who had local maps.
Today we have many ways of finding an address, maybe its one we havnt been to before, we dont know the roads, bridges width restrictions etc, so i feel its easier to get some advice from fellow truckers before starting the journey, and what better than to start with trucknet, ok some have sat navs ( i do ) and also maps and i have a mobile phone so if i am in the vicinity i can phone ahead to ask to be guided in.
The op merely wanted advice that is dished out daily, unless of course you are a driver who has been everywhere without a hitch, and bearing in mind the op also is a newbie, even more reason to give help ( we were all newbies once ) we are all born with a limited brain and as we go through life we gain knowledge, some we have had help with like schooling, other ways were to ask or watch what others were doing but one thing is certain, we dont stop learning from the day we were born until the day we die, and death is the only certainty so lets help others learn from our mistakes.

well said but you forget there are a few that were born with a steering wheel sticking out their arse

You’re correct of course, we are born with a limited brain that expands as we gain knowledge, of course if you prefer to let others work a route out for you then it’s going to take longer to get to a decent size. I don’t have a steering wheel stuck up my arse, that would be very uncomfortable when driving, you can have that tip for free before some bright spark asks if you can actually drive like that.
Norfolknewbie:
I have got a delivery to do here tomorrow and was after directions please as driver who told me wad a little vague. Many thanks and oh I will be starting from Felixstowe so A14, A12, M25, M4 and then■■?
How do you manage round Felixstowe if you can’t find your own way to Swindon?
I manage quite well round Felixstowe thankyou for your concern. If I don’t know I ask. If a driver asks me I always try to help where I can. As I mentioned earlier in a post there were no other drivers in yard to ask for directions so didn’t see the problem in asking on here. On the whole the majority of answers have been imformative and helpful with 1 or 2 drivers not being so helpful. I am not a newbie the term newbie was used because at the time I had just relocated to Norfolk. However some would argue and rightly so that I am.still a newbie compared them. If it helps it sounds like this B & Q is near Morrisons■■? If it is I.don’t remember it being there last time I visited Morrisons around 2008■■ Is the large lay-by with caravan for snacks still there■■? So you see people such as you Billyhunt know less than you think you do and TBH your ignorance has rather amused me this weekend
Trubster does the M4 not get me to Swindon then■■? Why does it not surprise you support UKIP?
