Digi Tacho question???

tachograph:
I have to ask, what’s the “RTD 9 hours 55 mins”

The RTD (WTD) is the total of Driving 8 hours 50 mins & Other work 1 hour 5 mins.

Maximum average of 48 hours per week over 17 weeks (can be 26 weeks by agreement)

Coffeeholic:
Same as with the tacho rules where it is possible to drive 8 hours and 59 minutes with just a 30 minute break, legally possible but not advisable.

hight mate please explian this bit if you don’t mind, i thought you drove 4.5 hours you have to have 45 mins how can you drive 8 hours and 59 mins with only 30 break :exclamation:

I reckon at 1am coffeeholic had the RTD on his mind (30 mins) and had one of my SENIOR MOMENTS and meant to put 45 mins for tacho regs

Drive for one minute then have a 15 minute break.
Drive for 4 hours and 29 minutes then have a 30 minute break.

(Clock now resets)

Drive for 4 hours and 30 minutes before needing a 45 minute break (if necessary).

That’s 8 hours 59 minutes driving with only a 30 minute break and legal

I see now - not a TOTAL of 30 mins for that amount of TOTAL DAILY driving BUT 30 mins for that AMOUNT of driving - penny now dropped

same here penny dropped  thanks tachograph

Just want to know if this is normal on Digi tacho when I switch off the ignition the tacho goes in to break mode

Apparently it is according to some posts I have read in THIS FORUM

Just to go back to this bit, its not ‘normal’. It is true quite a few do it, but irrespective to anyone saying the defaults can be changed as an option or Mercedes telling me its a ‘safety feature’ it is quite probable that the unit is not operating to type approval. The only thing i can see in the regulations that the recording machine should do automatically is record ‘driving’. It should not go onto ‘rest’ unless you switch it to rest. It’ll probably cost Siemens a fortune to put them all right. I might email them and push the point!!

The problem with the tacho I had on both DAF trucks from 2006 but next week I was using DAF 2008 and the problem was sorted, the tacho was going to other work not break everytime you stop or remove the key, I think is the first digi tacho’s had some issue’s but as they improved them they work fine on new trucks, I’m only saying what I experiance my self and yes maybe I’m wrong, is not a biggest problem you just have to remember to change when you actualy doing something but I must say it did confused me the first time

We have 57 plates that stay on the mode you select, 08 plates that revert to break and 58 plates that stay on the mode you select. On the ones that revert to break the backlight of the tacho goes off so its very difficult to see what mode you are setting it to. You’re right though its not the biggest problem, not sure how i’ll expain to a VOSA guy why my tacho is on rest when he’s just watched me collect my notes thougth. Actually i am, but i’ll save it for now
