Parked on old A 421 bedford, had 250lts sucked.no damage to filler cap, took off put back on.fellow in scania in front lost the same, again no damage caps put back on.just a heads up
Does your boss not pay parking? 250 litres over 2 hundred quid maybe even closer to 300 quid. Not a loss that’s going to bankrupt a company but £20 for a snap site or services is less than 250 litres of diesel.

Some drivers won’t use paid parking even if the boss pays

Fifteen nights out, with no diesel nicked, no parking paid, and the boss is better off…
Don’t fit clever fuel caps and the tank won’t be damaged.
I don’t say it’s a good idea, but it may pay.

Boss doesn’t pay, unless it’s high value load.
That’s fine with me, I’m not an overnight security guard and they don’t expect me to be.
Thursday night was the first time this year I’ve had diesel nicked, only 100 litres, and they put the cap back on too.
Had more smiley faces put in curtains than anything else, thankfully only when carrying waste though…
I’m more shocked that some people think services are safer than lay-bys when they are obviously not.

Was at argos tipping container running out of time, what would you do go over your time, tell vosa you had high value load of air
One of our rigids got done a few weeks back on hartshead moor westbound
Never had my diesel stolen.
Probably buy a new unit, with the money I’ve saved…by not paying for parking.
Regularly had arguments with management about where I parked.
Then they’d have one ripped off in an msa…and all would be quiet again.

It isn’t fine, it is far from fine. Basically what he is telling you is that he thinks that in the 21st Century it is perfectly OK for you to park at the side of the road at the end of a 15hr day without even basic toilet facilities, let alone somewhere to get a hot shower and hot meal whilst he sits in his nice house with all the comforts of home.
Drivers need to find a backbone and tell companies that don’t pay for parking that it is not acceptable. They need to be told this during job interviews with applicants saying if they don’t pay parking then they don’t want the job and they need existing drivers to say no paying for parking, no night out.
Its funny how these companies who apparently don’t pay for parking manage to pay for it when its an agency driver.
It is fine.
When I finish my graft for the day…I want a pint and something tasty to eat.
Not a happy meal and a cup of pop.
As for showers…I’ll take mine whilst on the clock.
And further more…my current employer was made aware of this at interview stage.
He was fine with it…coz he don’t park in msa/truckstops either.
Hmm what’s not to like about msa’s the stench, noise, crap food and risk of getting robbed and you pay for the pleasure [emoji849]

Had a night out last week, parked at Leigh delamere, company paid, got a decent spot, Fridge rumbling away nicely, went and had the all day breakfast, freshly cooked, served at my table, I didn’t need a shower as I’d had one earlier, was a pleasant night, no disturbances, you make the best of what’s available, then the next night was ind-est with self cooking again nice n quite.

You don’t pay for the pleasure, your boss does. I also wasn’t just meaning stopping at MSAs and there are plenty of truckstops where you can get a pint with your meal, just as long as you aren’t like some I see crawling out the bar into their truck at 1am, intending to be back on the road a few hours later.

I will stop at some truck stops admittedly mainly towards Scotland, otherwise I prefer to cook my own food and have preferred parking spots.

The final straw…for me,was one night in the stockyard.
A truckstop, which is better than most.
Bloke one side runs his engine for 20 mins before going to bed…And the bloke the other side runs his engine for 20 mins before cracking off at stupid o’clock.
Not complaining about that…but at the end of the day,I need to sleep.
I can’t drive properly when I’m forked.
Our lot pay for parking, but not on MSAs, (which isn’t a loss for me as I wouldn’t park on them if they paid me to do so, as well as paying the parking charge,… horrible places. )
I never park in lay bys on principle, and in my opinion if you get fuel nicked there you’ve asked for it.
I only use truckstops if desperate, or if high value loads, I prefer my own places I have ‘‘collected’’ over the years, …mostly (selective) ind ests on the edge of town facilities.
I’ve had one attempted diesel theft (caught them at it) and that was way back in 2003ish…touching wood.

I will not park on MSA,s either as too much noise and awful food but I have to say Rob that in the future i will be asking for your input in these places to stop at, I have a few already and admittedly have a few lay bys that I stop at but would be happy to have your advice in the future in regards in good places to stop at, I have a nice spot in Darlington I stop at although I have been told there are fairys around there but never had an issue and always leave the back door open (excuse the pun ) I have only been driving for just over 12 months but always welcome to advice that will help and benefit me in the future.

Always willing to help a new driver bud, …BUT , as for good parking places and the scarcity of them, (not talking about well known spots here btw) the more people who know about them who tell a mate in good faith, and they tell a mate and so on and so on, before you know it one of those ‘‘mates’’ leaves a mess, makes noise or some other excuse to get trucks banned, and another place has gone…I’m even selective as to which mates of my own I would tell tbh.
What I’ve done over the years is if I pass somewhere on route to somewhere that looks close to a pub or some facilities, I make a note, and use it in the future.
However if you are REALLY desperate one night, pm me, …that sounds sooo wrong …for a PARK btw
, although I only do one area nowadays (S.West) so many older places I knew have probably gone.
Btw ‘‘back doors and fairies’’ …so many jokes so little time.
