Bike 1st attempt (17)
Car 1st attempt (21 with a broken leg, crashed the bike in Fleet Street)
Class 3, 2nd attempt (4 wheel flat, D Series Ford, 16.5 tonner) around 1985/86 I wiped out Leighton Buzzard Test Centre’s cones, because my Dad put me through the test with no proper training, just an old fella sat in the passenger seat with me ! (Followed by 3 days training in the D Series with a proper trainer)
Class 1, 1st attempt after being trained by my Brother in Law in his Iveco with a Reefer attached, then doing the test in Bob Stocks (Commercial Transport Training-CTT) 6 speed Daf Tractor with a Baby Tanker on the back. (About 1992) speedo packed up during the test so I just blagged it & told the examiner that I would drive it on the revs (think he realised that I knew what I was doing & he let me carry on)
Car. First time in a Nissan Micra in April 1989 at Whaley Range, Manchester. Day after, out in a Freight Rover van.
Cat C was third time at Kirkham, February 1996 in Volvo F616. Failed twice at Simonswood.
Failed C+E at Bredbury in September 2001. The unit was an urban artic size Leyland Daf55/65 coupled to a standard 40 foot tandem axle box trailer. Obviously the trailer was too wide and downhill towards the unit with the rear axle barely touching the road. I had an Adult Learning Grant so was tied to which driving school could be used.
Passed C+E at Simonswood February 2006 in a Volvo FM.
Failed M/bike test in 1975
Passed car 2nd time in 1976When Kiki Dee & Elton John were No1 …That’s got most of you puzzled …kiki who ■■

No. But my Mum told me, "all the best lorry drivers pass their LGV test second time around. "
Cat B first time
Mod 1,2,4 first time
By virtue of what i guess to be divine intervention, i have somehow managed to clinch a clean sweep of first time passes. Car, bike, C, & recently C+E. Must`ve saved a bloody fortune as regards extra lessons & re-test fees.
F-reds - Are we to assume that your Mum passed hers at the second attempt, or was she an examiner?
Car test (Series 1 Land Rover) - 1st time.
PSV test (Bristol Double Deck manual) - 1st Time
HGV 1 test (Volvo) - 1st time

Cat C First Time
Cat C+E Second Time (My Own Stupid Fault)
Yes.
Cat C theory test 1st time. 60/60 Multichoice part. 66/75 for hazard perception.
Cat C driving test 1st time. It was a close call (I think 12/15 minors with the head honcho examiner)
Cat C+E driving test 1st time. This went better with 3 minors.
Passed cat A, B, D-theory and D-driving 1st time too. I think I’ll might do cat g & h sometime for the hell of it.
■■■■■■■ - I think we can safely say that was due to the devastation on my face because of me failing my first test, twice, inside 15 seconds
Smashed it second time round. Been learning everyday since… Long may it continue.
Passed car test in a mini in 1966 and passed hgv class 1[as it was] in a Bedford tm? with an eaton 2/speed axle in 1971,both first time This was when some com,s would pay you through your test provided you stayed on 3yrs with them after. If you left earlier depending on time you stayed you had to pay back a proportion of the costs, cant see that happening these days.
regards dave.
