Did you pass first time?

passed car, bike, C and C+E all 1st time…

still learning how to reverse an artic properly though, seems I never give myself enough space! (urban artics are a real pain as well!)

Best of luck on your retest TL

Tazbug

Grandad rights for me… bale of hay for the horse and a fiver for the examiner would’ve worked though if I’d had to take a test.

Hi there
Moped, motorbike, car, coach, class 1 and class 2 all first time.
Driving instructor, passed at the third attempt! By far the most difficult…
Good luck with the re-test
Paul

Class 2. I was in bits, never been so scared, pass first time, 2 minors.

Class 1. I was almost as bad that time!!! Pass first time. 1 minor.

Bike,car,FLT,telescopic,slaughterman, all first time.

CPC, tragic failure!!! Dint do much better at school either. I guess I’m just a hands on type fella.

yes car in about 83 and HGV 1 in 87

I did pass first time (1991), but with 12 minor faults. I thought I’d flunked it and was quite surprised when I hadn’t. :open_mouth:
Others have told me you get failed for 16 minor faults. The examiner himself told me you’d also be failed for a single major fault such as “kerbing it”.

Just wondering how many of you passed first time or if not what you failed on?

Had my C+E test yesterday and buggered up the reverse :frowning: im not even sure what i did was coming around fairly ok and then it all went wrong, prob nerves and the fact im so used to driving ridgids and havent had any experience with anything that bends until Monday! Am taking the pick up and horsebox out tommorow and going to reverse it until i can do it blind folded lol!
The rest of the test went really well only got 4 minors for the drive, 3 for hestitation and one for trying to pull away in the wrong range so overall am pleased with that, route took me on some tight roundabouts and junctions and did them all spot on, just want to get a re-test booked asap now. Ive had a taste of driving artics and i love it

I did the same thing on my first class 1 test, I did a lovely reverse, thought it needed a bit further and knocked the barrier down. Problem was the clothes peg on the middle mudguard on the trailer, to get the postion right, was yellow, and it kinda blended in…The examiner said to me that I’d done a lovely reverse, but then went and knocked the barrier, ‘come back in a week and give me a good drive’ said he, so said, so done and I passed second time. Good luck with yours, just remember to keep all the other 101 things under manners too. Remember also, the reverse you do on your test, with an empty trailer, is probably the easiest reverse you’ll do in life.

Gembo:
Never mind, TL, you’l be OK the second time Im sure.
I passed my C+E the first time but that was due in part that my ole man was paying and so it made me more determined not to mess up…
Car test though, (the easy bit!) I didn’t get right until the 3rd time!
If there was one bit of advise I would give, it would be to take your time. I know people always say that same old chesnut but it really is ‘key’ when driving a truck and no more so than when your going backwards.

Cheers  yea bit annoyed at myself just get confused at the opposite lock, monday was the first day ive really driven anything that bends lol! But going to practice now until my test and fingers crossed get it next time! Crazy test route took me right through Tuckingmill, right opposite the police station that tight left down by Tyack’s in Camborne, A30 off at Tolvaddon, through Illogan, Portreath, North Country and Avers Roundabout and handled all those manouvers fine!

That was some test route! All that talk of Tuckingmill, Camborne and the rest takes me back well over 30 years when I was working on the Camborne/Redruth by pass…happy daze

Took me car test twice must admit but for me class one in 1989 just after me 21st took me test before having any lessons at all because of a cancellation & bloody passed it

Bike test, Sept 1988, first time.
Car test, Sept 1988, third time, failed for pulling out on a car at a junction (was miles away) failed second time at exactly the same junction on second test for waiting too long. (Only fault - FFS)
Class 2, Jun 2012, first time, 3 minors
Class 1, Oct 2012, first time, 4 minors

Was going to do my bus test, just so I’d got a full set, but really can’t be bothered with another theory and practical test.

Got my reach and counterbalance FLT licences too, but they’ve expired now.

Bloody good job I enjoy driving

Full set ,first time every time , even the school bus . That’s why us ex-pats command top coin
