One of those slightly innatentive moments that a lot do on a daily basis without causing a real safety problem.
The problem for your good self was that you were on a DSA test and they are very rigid in their thinking about you making other road users change speed or direction - even slightly 
I would personally view what you say you did and what happened as being a little pedantic and given you a minor with a good telling off but I’m not the DSA examiner

My instructor Carl who owns Stockport HGV said similar to that, that it was possibly a little bit harsh but no we’ve complaints as i did do it.
I will make sure i properly look and understand whats going on in my mirrors from now on instead of just a customary glance!

Sounds like he views the DSA testing regime in the same way that I do 
Sorry to hear you didn’t pass and so close too. It does sound like the instructor was being a bit harsh, but I bet you’ll check your mirrors more thoroughly next time
Carl is a top instructor. I found him a really calming influence too. All the best for the next attempt…third time lucky hopefully. Let you know how you get on.
