DHL Contracts?

What contracts have DHL got these days??,they seem to be pulling a varied load these days.
I go past there depot at Warrington a lot & see them & their artics on the motorways pulling plain white tankers, pulling containers & unlivered tautliners.

I know they have MARKS & SPENCERS , up here at ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
delivering the cloths

formula 1 too aparently :open_mouth:

It would be easier to list what they aren’t involved with.

They have depots everywhere doing all sorts of work. Supermarket, fashion, pubs, tankers, general haulage - you name it they do it.

Customers include Tesco, Sainsbury, Iceland, M&S, Next, JD Wetherspoon, Perkins Engines, Comet, Ikea, Debenhams, BHS, Argos, Argos Direct, Ford (inc. Jaguar & Land Rover), Jeyes, Campbells, Batchelors, Shell, BP, B&Q, Howie Forests and dozens upon dozens of others.

One thind that annoys me a bit is that a lot of the good / prestigious contracts we had before DHL bought us (Exel) have had all traces of Exel removed from the buildings.

It isn’t even Exel Tradeteam now - it’s DHL Tradeteam!!

I am not saying they shouldn’t add DHL to the signage, but at least keep the old Exel name alive in there somewhere. They can do it on company letters, company fuel cards. They all say DHL Exel Supply Chain.

It still says ‘Exel Management Services’ on my payslip. I think it’ll be a shame when they do finally kill off the Exel part completely.

As well as taking over Exel (who took over Tibbet and Britten) they took over Securicor Omega, i’d say there is no one as big as them in the UK.

I’d extend it further than that. For the type of company it is, I’d say it’s the biggest in the world.

It is a bit scary really just how powerful the owners (Deutsche Post) have become.

bloody hell, it sounds like they are taking over everything.
I was just curious cause i see them pulling all sorts these days.

does anyone know what DHL actually stands for ■■

Never mind i just found it

Where does the name DHL come from?

These are the first letters of the last names of the three company founders, Adrian Dalsey, Larry Hillblom and Robert Lynn.

should google 1st ask questions later :unamused: :unamused:

Yes, it stands for Dalsey, Hillblom and Lynn. The surnames of the men who started the firm in the late sixties.

So Dewey, Huey and Louie is just a myth then?

The way they run their Sainsburys contract at Bristol you’d think they were a Disney creation.

It might as well be at times.

Funny you mention Bristol.

I had thirteen pallets for them a couple of weeks ago. It was to be my last drop of five on a Friday and my first four had been in Kent.

Everything had gone wrong throughout the day, and I knew well before my delivery time I was going to be at least two hours late.

I contacted our office and asked them to ring Sainsburys. In other words, they were told I was going to be late in plenty of time.

I arrived just about two hours late and security told me they would need to phone goods in for guidance.

‘Take it back!’ was the answer. They admitted that our office had informed them five hours earlier that I was going to be late, but it made no difference.

I asked to speak a goods in manger. I explained that sometimes things do go wrong, and that it couldn’t be helped. It did no good. He wasn’t interested.

I then explained that seeing as he worked for DHL Exel, and I also worked for DHL Exel, could he not be a little more flexible?

No way. So I had to leave with the stock still on board.

I got as far as Mickey Wood Services and then the office rang and asked me to take the gear back down to one of the two DHL Exel depots in Avonmouth, and they would re-deliver it the following Monday. :smiling_imp:

Truly - one of those days!!

They also do the asda and morrisons petrol deliveries

they also do selfridges now what a [zb] company to work for!!!
