My god is he still bashing his head against that wall.
I think it’s an old clip…
Just a thought, if Denby had this idea it’s regarded as ok, yet if certain other hauliers considered this, it would be the end of the world and haulage would be doomed.
If they use these…what happens when the ‘approved’ route is shut because of an accident and they have to divert off onto a B road somewhere…? And it’s night trunk time and there are dozens and dozens and dozens of them diverting?
The general public will hate us even more and attempt to ovetake when they haven’t a chance of getting past…
And finally it will put some more folk out of work…
Yeh, a great idea…
Then they will divert under this circumstance, no problem.
Is it possible to be hated even more than we already are?
And as for overtaking when they haven’t got a chance… Whats new!!!
No it won’t put people out of work, not enough to make a difference anyway.
And yes it is a great idea.
Divert yes - but where to?
When they closed the A14 for road works there were ridiculously long diversions in place, so many trucks used the back roads…but these wouldn’t go down the back roads…and there must be many other circumstances where these wouldn’t fit. I can think of several locally…prepare for a lot more stuck lorries in future ‘well the old artics went down here’
If it won’t make any difference, you won’t mind if you lose your job so the rest of us are OK will you? If you’re happy with that it’s fine with us…
These super wagons are a good idea and surely work great on wide open foreign highways, but are not practical here yet given our major trunk routes are not good enough and/or reliable enough.
In theory, you could use them on RDC-RDC night trunks up and down the motorway, but as others have already said the motorways are shut half the time at night for bloody roadworks. Then you have places like Lincolnshire that lack any proper roads.
There are few occaisions where these trucks would be viable and I doubt that many hauliers would be keen to spend the amount required for the returns that are possible.
If such vehicles are genuinely needed then a return to (improved) rail transport would make more sense. IMO
These B trains work fine in Denmark on what are the equivalent of UK A roads, but they do get the employers to train the drivers on how to drive these big trucks. Guess in the uk it would be “ah you’ve got a class 1 off you go.” Alot of the drivers driving these trucks in Dk are E. European, so maybe they don’t pay enough for the Danes to want the responsability of such a vehicle.

Why does Harry’s sausage factory always come to mind when these things are mentioned?
These larger lorries will suit manufacturers of diapers, except the nearest manufacturer to Denby has just closed its factory and moved it to Moldovia or somewhere
So we’re all quite happy with the idea of dragging off and on again however many pallets or roll-cages one of these things holds for the same money?
We’re all quite happy with one of the company’s suits deciding that for ‘operational reasons’ certain stores will be served by one of these, having carefully considered himself that manoeuvering will be no problem?
And we’re all happy that this same suit is going to decide exactly how long it is going to take to tip and unload?
And we’re all convinced that no one is ever going to leave: pallets, cages, rubbish, the odd tent or container in the way?
The pallet networks would never think of using them would they?
Shame that in the clip the comment about not having motorways in the county was wrong. I can’t see any issues with leaving the Denby yard and heading to Immingham, mostly sc but nothing that would be a problem with that vehicle. Same applies to heading down the A46 and picking up the A1.
Half the car drivers in the UK would flinch at taking their little tin box down half the roads used when transporting the bits of wind turbines and they don’t bend in two places or have positive steering at the bendy bits.

Good grief…If they use these…what happens when the ‘approved’ route is shut because of an accident and they have to divert off onto a B road somewhere…? A good idea in certain circumstances and countries…deffo no good in the uk, our road network is just about useless for our normal trucks, but a thought did enter my little head, surely a ferry crossing would be nearly double, the fuel consumption would be horrendous, so how much profit does he expect to make, just a thought ! They would only be any good for very light loads, and because of the fight he has had on his hands, to try and get them to accept his mega trucks, i dont think he has a cats hell of a chance, in his lifetime, or mine, of them ever being accepted above the 44t limit, or the extra length.
More irrelivent comments from idiots on there who will never drive anything more than a car with perhaps a caravan behind it. Why are their concerns even an issue? If it were down to those fools everything would be on a canal boat, for all of two days until they realised they were two weeks from starvation.
I cant believe Denby is still on with this though. I passed my Class 2 and 1 with them back in 2005 and the second guy talking looks like Terry Rose, my former trainer and the truck used for training was the one used on their prototype B train with all the cameras built in to the sunvisor.
