I had 27 years based at one quarry but when I left there was no ‘goodbye’ or ‘good luck’ or anything from the weighbridge staff etc, many of whom I had known for all that time, and I felt a little aggreived really. However I mentioned this to a neighbour who had his own business and his reply was “Well you got paid, what else did you expect?” and I suppose he was right really!
Pete.
Man up buttercup it’s just another job when alls said & done. You don’t seem to have much regret about leaving a company in the lurch, one that’s paid you for 11 years. That’s less than a quarter of your working life btw.

I have never had any regrets about leaving ANY company. I do a job, they pay me money for doing it and that is as far as the relationship goes. Like prostitution without the kisses…

Agree with some of the comments that we get our thanks in our wage packet. But to be with one company for 11 years deserves at least some common courtesy and a thank you. It’s just polite.

Just a quick question to the OP, did you seek out your boss and thank him for the last 11 years of a steady job?
Did you thank him for taking you on and giving you a chance of 11 years of steady wages?
Did you give him any consideration at all when you were planning to leave?
