What did you actually learn on the course reference tachos?? I have had a few drivers come in and defect their tacho ,as when they insert their card ,the screen comes up saying they need a weekly break…I still can’t get my head around that they think this is a defect
This covers owner drivers and company drivers and various companys …
I learnt that my doodling skills are surprisingly good.
Prove it…I find it strange that people would defect a tacho for telling them they need a break
I found the trainer knew less than me and even got a lot of stuff wrong
I learnt I should have become a train driver when I sat and listened to 15 lorry drivers talking pish in a cramped stinking room.
But I have a lot of RDC waiting room experience so I’ve learned to switch myself off whilst still keeping a dim bulb lit upstairs. Sleeping while awake I call it.
but none of you would defect a tacho ,for telling you to have your weekly
Can’t say I have ever seen a digital Tacho give such a message
What brand and what age of vehicle?

I know the V2 Siemens has information regarding weekly rests available in the VDO screens and will even tell you what compensation is owed - but this info has to be accessed by the driver - it doesn’t just pop up
V2 was about 2012 if I remember correctly.
I think there’s a new Siemens available now but I’ve not seen one yet so Im stumped as to what your drivers have seen
the weekly rest comes up as soon as you have put your card in and the tacho has read it…think todays was a siemen /vdo …I never actually paid attention …put the drivers card in ,got the break ,then put mine in all ok ready to go
I’ve got an epic course coming up and apparently it is a pass or fail

The Epic/MPQC part is pass fail but you should get the CPC hours either way. However, as DCPC cannot include a test with a pass fail or any kind of assessment I’d be interested to see how long the course is as it should really be 7 hours plus breaks plus the test

Really? Siemens/VDO should show time, name, last withdrawal, M entry addition yes/no
I’d defect it Norbert, sounds like there’s a problem.

yep then it told him to put his feet up…guess it is a new feature,or they aren’t managing their hours .One la was just starting his days work,so he had a nice phone call to make ,as he was in a mixer an they are crying out for concrete up here 24/7 at the minute

From what I can gather there are 2 epic courses. They have to be done within a certain timeframe for them to be valid. Each course is 7 hours for dcpc. Will let you know of hours etc (if I remember) after I’ve done them.
if i didnt require a weekly rest, and the tacho told me i did, then i would consider that a defect.

Please do let us know as I hear a lot of EPIC courses are run short - and answers given out for the tests
