if i didnt require a weekly rest, and the tacho told me i did, then i would consider that a defect.
Fair point ,but the tacho is reading your card ,and to be honest we can bench test it where it will go through the modes …we can also phone the likes of stoneridge ,who will say " you need a weekly rest " .Can’t see them accepting warranty ,as with each one I have had I have always put my card in and went with a drive with the driver present…and it is ok …The tacho now appears to be taking over control

Is the time and date correct? The driver has very limited ability to change these, if memory serves correctly anything above 2 minutes a week, and the change has to be at a certified tacho centre. If the tacho time was out by say 12hours slow then it is quite possible that a driver who has come from a vehicle with a tacho correctly set could be told he needs a weekly rest.
In that instance defecting the vehicle is the sensible way to proceed.
I learnt that the trainer was a no nothing zb.I put my hand up four times to say "sorry pal but you are talking zb."The guy phoned his boss who confirmed that he was indeed talking zb.The dcpc as it stands is not fit for purpose. We now have tachos in charge of trucks,I thought that the sat-nav had priority.
I hate it when the digi tacho displays a message asking me if I have thought about a different career?..
I can say in all honesty that nobody has shown me how to use a digi tacho. It is self taught with guidance from some of the guys on here and watching some YouTube videos that always seem to be slightly different to the tachos I encounter. I did a week long dcpc course last year and lost count of all the incorrect information they put across. One of the modules was regulations and record keeping, including tachograph use that was of little use as the dozen drivers in the room all had different opinions of what was correct (or not).
On a couple of occasions I have had digi tachos give an error message of ‘no card inserted’ even though I have entered a card in its correct orientation, pressed the ok button and it has then worked fine… Don’t know if that is a quirk or a fault, but there again I have never been trained in their use…

Hi wiretwister .time and date are correct .with a digi it has a max of 20 mins ,before there is an issue that require workshop attention …It appears to be a new update on new tachos where you are now under control of the tacho more and more…Hopefully this post will raise awareness of the newer tachos in new vehicles …Unfortunately drivers don’t get the manuals supplied and there is majority who wouldn’t read them anyway …Hence forums like this
I found it was hard to sit still , not fidget and stay awake for 8 hours . What did I learn on the DCPC course ? - every trainer has a different interpratation of the rules and not all of their ideas are correct .
