You are not the only one in this situation - I know of at least one other who passed both C and CE in late 2009 who was, until recently, driving commercially without having the correct dcpc requirements
As I know of two there has to be more but in most cases these will not come to light until late 2014 when the authorities will start checking LGV DQCs

1 - If you passed your car test before 1997 you have until 09/09/2014 to get 35 hours of periodic dcpc
2 - If you passed you car test after 1996 then when you did the C you should have also done initial dcpc modules 2 and 4 in which case you will already have a DQC (driver cpc card) which will have an expiry date some time in 2015
This being the case then you have until that DQC expiry date to get 35 hours of periodic dcpc
3 - you passed car test after 1996 and did not pass initial dcpc mods 2 and 4 in which case you have been driving commercial LGVs illegally since 2010 !!

Im number 3 then. Oh [zb]!!! What i meant was rigid and c+e in 2010. No [zb] had told me that its a must thing to do
Or c1 or c1+e if you did them? I only ask because I did my c+e after the cut off in 2009 but did my c1 and then c1+e before and that gave me grandfather rights.
£1000 fine for you and the same for the employer I think - no penalty points - they will probably prevent you driving any further
Beverley bell the traffic commissioner has stated that the penalties for not having driver cpc will be a £1000 fine for the driver followed by an invitation to go and meet her that would probably result in the driver having their licence suspended untill the driver cpc is obtained. She would then pay attention to the operator and deal with them accordingly.
I’m confused not hard I know but rog is saying you had to pass before 1997 to have till 2014 but. Then someones said they passed before 2010 which is it to have grandfather rights and just need clock up 35 hours before 2014 ?

if you passed your car test before 1997 it automatically gave you c1 on your licence, so you have grandfather rights on c or c+e reguardless if you passed them last year but only till september 2014, i think that is correct

If you passed your CAR driving test before 1997 you also got Cat C1 on your driving licence (up to 7.5t). You would then have the right to drive a wagon up to 2014 under grandfather rights.
If you passed your car driving test after 1997 you didn’t get Cat C1 on your driving licence so if you did C1 or C test after the 2009 cut off date you would have to take the DCPC before being allowed to drive.
So just to add to that, I passed my car test in 2005 so had no rights, but passed my c1 and c1+e before 2009 so gained grandfather rights, those rights continued even when I passed my c and c+e around late 2009 after the cut off.
I have now done my Cpc but only need to complete the hours by 2014 like everyone else.
Any driver who had any LGV category on their licence before 10/09/2009 has dcpc aquired/grandfather rights
The LGV categories are C1 C1+E C C+E
It does not matter how they were obtained so it could be by passing a DSA test or by passing car test before 1997
All those with aquired rights have until 09/09/2014 to get 35 hours of periodic dcpc so they can carry on driving LGVs commercially after that date
Any driver who got their very first LGV category on their licence after 09/09/2009 must pass initial LGV DCPC modules 2 and 4 in order to drive LGVs commercially
Passing initial mods 2 & 4 then puts the driver into the periodic dcpc system

Do 14 hour more DCPC by 9/9/2014 and you will be good till 9/9/2019
