So another new member receives a nice warm welcome from those who believe themselves to be popular. No doubt anyone who isn’t stupid will look at this and others and consider their position before joining and their approach if they do.
No doubt all the one liners of abuse will follow with the ironic word troll attached… genuine irony. Interesting for a forum that does not permit light profanity. Wake up admin… your advertisers are observing.
All he’s done is act like a condescending tw*t since he got here, rubbishing pretty much everyone and then not backing up statements because they might identify him.
As a boss, I know I’m not popular. So there goes one theory. Trucknet has a certain feel to it and if you don’t like it, why join? I’m on a different forum marketed towards middle-age women and, unsurprisingly, the feel there is different and I adapt to it, not expecting evryone to adapt to me.
To help you understand the response he got, try this.
Walk into a Bar full of people you don’t know, tell everyone that you’ve been observing them and that they are all useless [zb] and that hopefully they will soon be out of a job, then see how many welcome you and buy you a pint
Thank you for your offer of help.
If I may… imagine you live in a small village with one pub & every time you look through the windows the locals are ■■■■■■ up, vomiting, generally being antisocial, dragging their knuckles and beating up the incomer.
Do you go into the pub ready for it to kick off or expect a nice warm welcome?
This is aimed at the legend that is Dipper Dave , dont bring the length of his member into this. He WILL make you swollow that pride.
For DD, this is a forum. Everyone is equal, neither the number of posts nor the length of membership should effect that. If you put these bozos in the imaginary pub… most of them would be the little dicks, keeping their heads down… probably with a mobile in their hands ranting at the internet… too dopy for even doggin in a layby… no orgies to be found here… just group ■■■■■■■■■■■■.

Good analogy Joey
Ermm…Any chance of a link to that other forum?
I knew you were really a middle aged woman really…not what you meant?

Personally, I’d avoid the pub in the first place, which to me, would seem the most logical thing to do.

Indeed - but this is a forum… supposedly for drivers… not for adolescent children. You do understand the difference between analogy and reality of course.

Yes, and unlike you and Dr D I don’t feel the need to try and prove how intelligent I am all the time. It still stands as an analogy - see my earlier post about forums and the ‘feel’ they have to them, where I point out if you don’t like the style of the forum, you don’t join it.
I called UK tramp a wassock, he called me a cretin, but at least we both put our handbags down and get on with things without whining. Both you and Dr D seem to delight in your perceived superiority whereas in reality you mostly just both come across as belligerant and rude. I never understand why perfectly intelligent people want to go around and denigrate others and then complain when they aren’t welcomed with open arms.
Anyway, I’ve had enough of you and your sniping and I’ll stick with annoying beaver, who at least as a sense of humour.
No colin-scottish you can’t either - good grief, you and beaver, you’d scare the life out of them!
Let’s put my Devil’s advocate hat on and say “FFS you’ve found Troll City exactly the same as I did…”.
The difference is though that I’ve been on-line far longer than I’ve been a driver, so I’ll continue being keyboard warrior first and respected trucker 'cos I know you lot can’t touch me on my pootah credentials.
I, won’t be going anywhere except on the road - Mod Bans aside of course.
To the downside (for balance!) I’ll criticize OP for what looks like a poor attempt to cast a recruitment net because they are attempting to start a new haulage business on buttons - this late in the day.
“If you tell a lie enough times, it will be believed.”
Tell everyone they are useless, and they’ll perhaps queue up for one of many pittance-paid jobs in an otherwise thriving industry.
No one has invented the Teleport yet. When that happens - THEN I’ll worry about losing my livelihood!.
Dipper_Dave:
It’s a first impressions thing, no good joining a conversation then spouting how good your knowledge is on a totally different topic.
The length of time it took to get a reply to your initial post may explain the flouncing though.
Don’t worry it’s the same on all forums and social situations, no good joining and giving it the big un from the get go, worm your way in.
You should see the MI5 intranet forum it’s a flame war when a noob first joins giving it the whole ‘James Bond’ big bollox speech.
Forums are a bit like orgys, eventually the biggest prick will be the most popular but don’t turn up on your first gathering with a floppy.
On the contrary - that’s exactly what I did at my first on-line “eyeball” gathering in 1987… There were girls there too! Intellectual girls that were not Lefties and all… Phwoooarr!
Dr Damon:
robroy apologies if I come across the way you say.I do not mean it but reading some of the tripe on here and seeing some of the appalling driving out there are you really surprised.
Thanks for that mate, but really no need as I was not among the ones you chucked personal attacks at, which kind of determined the responses you got in the first place.
Anyway to answer some of your points.
…As I said I do agree with some of them, and especially about driver standards dropping, …but are you seriously trying to tell us that because of this (or at least partly because) autonomous trucks are to be brought in to address this?
That is how it sounded to me anyway in the theme of your post, or maybe I picked you up wrong.
It aint just drivers with attitudes, and it aint just on the roads, it’s society in general, nobody gives a ■■■■ anymore about the guy next to him, aggression is the thing today, you see more and more road rage examples,.and mostly for trivial reasons, ending up being blown out of all proportion.
Times have changed as I said in society in general, in the old days if you worked ‘‘on the doors’’ for eg. it was quick arm up the back, and/or a quick slap and out he goes, nowadays he rounds his mates up and comes back armed with a knife looking for you…and things are still getting worse.
Kids are no longer being taught courtesy and good manners, no discipline in schools anymore, and so the situation escalates and we see the evidence on the roads among drivers.
Anyway this aint about social comment.
Automation has been going on since the late 70s, the haulage industry is just being drawn into line same as everyone else, but a bit later that is all.
The reason I did not comment on the driverless trucks thread is simply because I aint ■■■■ interested, by the time it comes into full fruition (15 to 20 yrs maybe?) I will be long gone from this job and sunning myself in Spain enjoying retirement.
Just a tip take it or leave it (tone down the patronising you may get a lot more positive and constructive responses )
Yeh I know that also sounds patronising.
truckman020:
sounds to me this guy can give plenty of criticism but obviously can’t take it,we have all slated each other on here one way or another and some replies have bordered on being downright nasty, but we still stay on here,as I say he can’t take it,whats the betting he will come back but under a new name.
Reckon he’s already done that one bud.
btw. Speak for yourself, I’ve never been insulted, slated, or had any downright nasty replies ever on here,…everybody loves me.
…I wish.

cos I know you lot can’t touch me on my pootah credentials.
You may be right… I have…
HTML from start to 5 + css
Perl / CGI
MYSQL
LINUX
Unix
Php
Windoze / server
RUBY
DOS
Plus others
Speak 5 languages and find it rather amusing watching idiots with a huge chip feeling oppressed by words they do not understand.
. Long list of names… close lol
You’ve trumped me on the languages. Back in the Unix days, I was using the brand-new RISC and transferred operating system and server handling NMIs to Micros quite nicely (Late 80’s)
My first computer job was Lucas CAV back in the days of endless tape mounts and bringing up CICS in time for breakfast. I hated that job actually, 'cos it was 5x12 hours nights on a fraction of the pay everyone else working with me was getting.
