Day at Deeset Logistics

Sitting at home this dinnertime around 1.30 pondering what to do with the rest of the day, when the phone rings, its an agency “can you help us out? its only a short run we need you asap…please!!!”, Ok I said, but i bet its not a short run i thought.

Got me stuff together and was there within 30 minutes, walked across the car park, knew I was gonna get one of these

got given the Scania

Instructions simple enough, up to Swinton collect 4 pallets, then up to Hallmark cards at Brighouse to collect some more stuff.

Got to Swinton at 10 to 4, got told where to put the truck, and someone would be with me soon, yeah right I thought, got on the bunk, got me book out and poured a brew, two minutes later felt something in the back, then the forkie shouts come on then driver, with a mouthful of sausage roll I stuck my head out and it turns out that he wanted me to get on the back with the pumptruck, the cheek of it me a container driver as well :open_mouth: !

5 minutes and 5 pallets later, I was knackered! paperwork was sorted and i was ready to go

Got up to Brighouse at 5 to 5, was given a bay straight away, told to hand me keys in, by the time i got up to transport office, the pallet truck guy told me i was loaded, and ready to go, with 4 pallets of valentine and mothers day cards :open_mouth:

Apparently someone should have been there to collect them at 2, and they were waiting for me, thats why I was so quick, ( well you can see the rush for the cards cant you  ), anyway signed up and out of there for just gone 5, and back in Stoke for 7, fuelled up on a bay and back home for 7.30, six hours after receiving the call. Wish everyday was like this, and it just goes to show that agencies dont always lie

Definitely a lot easier than the 7.5t work out of there.

Didnt even need a tacho break, grand total of 4 hours 10 mins driving

Careful Bug, you will get too used to it and will need 2 weeks off when you start doing some real work again lol

Cant believe how different an artic behaves to a drawbar though, havent driven an artic for 6 months till today

did it feel different then having to get in the back to do some work, container drivers don’t like getting in the back

why is Dee Set got a 17 in the logo
in French its dix sept

In reply to hitch, “dix sept” when spoken in French is pronounced “dee set” - simple really, well I am anyway.

one of my drivers had a Cat C+E restricted to wagon and drag only, i put him through his full C+E test

well, on his assesment drive to see how long it would take, he got a T junction wrong and very nearly wiped out a bollard with the cut in from the trailer

And doesn’t that just sum up how ridiculous and dangerous the LGV driving test is.

I have a class 3 rigid and a class 1 artic pass to be proud of

exactly, my driver had a restricted C+E, the stupidity behind it is, he could take his test in a wagon and drag (a vehicle he could already legally drive) to pass the test and get a full licence

Not anymore which is why all the schools that had wagon and drags have now gone back to artics.

since when?

my driver took his test in April and he could have taken it in a W+D

why is Dee Set got a 17 in the logo

Apparently from what I can gather off a permanent driver when I spent a bit of time there, 17 is the owners favorite number so obviously DEE SET sounds better than SEVENTEEN.
