Here we are at Dorchester show last sunday after winning our class and also taking the championship a very good day, i might have to ask the boys for a bit of sponsership.

afternoon all , i went past the yard today and it was a surprise to see some TSA trucks in unfortunately i didnt have my phone to take some pics also didnt want to look like an anorak standing at the gates taking snaps lol , so was wondering if horry or andrew got any if he was in the yard ■■

Heres a pic of one of the super space cab dafs we ran which Lee Hooper gave me today, the reg is T22 GEL which is now on an FH volvo.

It started out on a Volvo too John.

It was the Tarts and I collected it from Princes, sorry MC truck n bus. Being used to a left ■■■■■■ I drove out of their gate and scuffed the NS tyre. On arrival at the yard it was straight into see Malc for some tyre paint before the Tart clapped eyes on it.

Cheers

Hell your memorys better than mine Neil, but then you are a tad younger. We used to buy a new set of GEL numbers every yearuntil the DOT got silly with the prices they charged ,i doubt we are the only companys that keep the plates now and transfer them on to a new motor, cheers Buzzer.

found on page 2, the shame of it!

Hi all bin to market today and bought some beef cattle extending my ranching facility, i have eleven in total now so returning a little to my farming background will take a pic and post on here later, interesting seeing VTA being discussed on its own web site now that is a Mary Hopkin moment.

are you all on holiday rescued again from page 2

Where are the Davies trucks heading for this week ?

Dunno! but took this one, a bit back! on M3 just above Southampton, so not unexpected! I asked my missus to take the photo and she couldn’t understand why, so I explained about this thread, but she still couldn’t understand why!

Well done Les for the rescue from page two, i thought i’de gone back to being an owner keyboard operator.
Some trucks have gone to athens but we are like a rash we go all over Ringrose.
Nice pic Big G unit, did you ever drive a Guy big J or did your prefix come from some where else,it was my first tractor unit i drove for some one else, with 180 gardner and 6 speed david brown gearbox painful up hills but there did not seem to be so much urgency in those days, regards Buzzer.

BigG-unit…I like your comments, my Wife is the same, does not get it at all ! That said she did come back the other night and said she had passed a ’ Eat more chips ’ truck on the way home from work, so it must be sinking in.
Thanks for the update Buzzer…any chance one of the Drivers can send some pictures on location in Athens ?

Ringrose its only Andrew who really takes the pics but dont know if he is one in Athens, we shall see.

Buzzer,
I think it may have been a Thornycroft 6 speed in the big j behind a 180, a bloody awful gearbox with time to roll a smoke between changes, we had loads of them and I seem to remember some drivers put a piece of inner tube over the stick to stop them jumping out of sixth !
Later motors had the fuller 9 speed with decent power steering and it transformed them no end .

Alot has changed over the years, we used to just sign the back of our trailers and we used to be in the middle of Southampton but we moved to J9 of the M27 in 2001 so come under Fareham now. Obviousley the big block DAVIES name is the same and the logo SuperCalibreFrigoLogisticsImportExportDavies still remains,we started the stripes down the side of the trailers to match with the units also the verticle DAVIES standing on its head in 1992 as we felt we were wasting a huge moving advertising hoarding. When i look back signwriting has moved with the times especially with the inovation of plastic sticky vinyl years ago it would take a whole day to sign a motor but nowadays most companys do it bold and loud rather than rows of who you were and where you came from plus phone numbers fax and telex etc but i guess thats progress.

Nah! come along, keep up Mr D, you asked me that back in May, on Pat’s Southampton thread, page 153 I think it is, answer should be on there. Now, that’s more a senior moment than a Mary Hopkins one! :open_mouth:

Here we are back on page two again, just a pic of a 1978 F12 we owned it was ex CaveWood and LHD ,this pic was taken at Swindon at the renault sparepart warehouse which used to reside in Reading till they moved to this purpose built facility, i had just picked this motor up from Hartshorn in Birmingham who had converted it to a six wheeler rear lift with a granning axle, we had this done to the F89 that we also ran at the time. This may have been posted before but hey ho it was in 1983 which is friggin nearly 30 years ago.

Seeing that last pic Buzzer, reminds me of you doing that Renault job
with the bubble ( f86 ).
I don’t recall ever seeing any photos of it. I,m guessing there are none.

Hi tone i bin through all my pics but have not found one, i bought it at Hartshorne after delivering the F89 for conversion as i needed a way to get home, he asked me a grand for it and i bid him 500 quid and bought it, it was only plated at 28 ton as it was from an electrical wholesalers called goodson lighting the chap that did body work for big Al in the yard painted it over a weekend it was’nt posh but it was not going to be long term, i remember it earned £1100 in the first week i drove it, i also remember doing four trips to Poclain with tracked diggers in Hook in one day and i knew every bump in the road to that place. The thing that peeded me of most was Roger Page overtakin me just befor Swindon and i always had to wait for him to drop off and pick up before i could do the same with my trailer, deffo a MH moment mate.
PS. i also remember selling it to Cranes and Commercials for £700 when it went and i kept the wheels and tyres, it went to Portugal where they used the drive lines for coaches.

Hi again Tone i wont tell you how many pics i went through to find this one of the bionic bubble which i just had a feeling was lurking in the depths, you spurned me on and i could not rest till i found it pictured in Big Al’s yard with a super high tautliner that we used to do coke cans for Kammac Trucking, i just used to load it for up the road and Dave " the fireman " morgan and then took over. That was an early pic in 1983 of the fleet as it stood then with me leaning on the motor next door all nonchelant, little acorns spring to mind here. The two tone blue trucks always stood out and i still like it today, the old F12 was not quite the right stripe colour but we perfected it in the end,so there you go mate a pic of the 500 quid bargain that was in there at the start, see you later.
