Aha memory jerker right there Dean, when I was at the Wiltshire Agricultural college doing a NCA course in 66/67 we had a brand new ford 3000 selecto speed as it was called but we renamed it jerkomatic and you could very easily throw someone of the back of a trailer if it was operated too fast, never did like it and i don’t think it really caught on as farmers preferred a pre selected manual box, cheers BuzzerEvening Buzzer
Pictures of our new 5000 and 3000 silaging circa 1968.
Nice pic showing the difference in size between the 2 tractors. The 5000 would be like a toy now compared to one of the
modern ones.
Heres an old one from 1965.

That BMC Mini tractor had a “dieselised” version of the engine that was fitted to Mini’s, A series? I had the Leyland version,a 154, it needed a sniff of easy start or a lit oily rag up the air cleaner or it would not start, soon got sold!
I seem to remember a feature in one of the tractor magazines about the students at Lackham College restoring a Selector speed Ford, I wonder if it is the same machine? The feature was over 10 years ago. Cheer’s Pete

Well after worming and blacklegging the steers and heifers were turned out to grass on Monday lunchtime, turned 24 out in 15 acres which wrighty would probably cut for silage, they look well contented but are a bit sharp when you try to get near them but they are Limousin’s so expected, in time they will get used to seeing me especially later on when i start to give them a bit of hard feed, got to get them bag trained thats for sure.

Cracking shot Buzzer, must admit i miss driving abroad. Much better than driving in the UK.
Hope the new animals are settling in ok.
Any one making haylage or hay they are going to be at it this week with high temperatures on the horizon forecast and no exception here so my mate fitted a new set of blades on me mower and at 10am we went to mow a meadow, well 10 acres, got 2/3rds cut then had a problem with the tractor so had to abort and called a local small contractor in to finish the job, Main man in at 11am tomorrow to row up and bale and wrap then its down to me to get them in.
Off to Salisbury market to try my luck and see if i can get some more stock, we shall see as they have got a tad dearer all because we had a smidgen of rain, cheers Buzzer.
Evening Buzzer
Busy day today loaded at Carnforth then ran up and tipped at Stirling, then down to Campbeltown and now parked up on the banks of Loch Lomond…
Let’s hope the forecast is right as we have quite a bit down for hay/silage so we could do with a hot spell.
Cheers Wrighty
Hope your gang of tedders and turners are observing social distancing, Buzzer; and that your stookers are working north to south to catch the best of the sun

Nice one Buzzer, my bus driving days back in the '50s took me through Kintore quite a bit and one trip to Peterhead with trawler men from the Seaman’s Mission at Aberdeen, on that occasion the hat went round and a generous tip given to me.
Oily
After tea stroll to check the young stock in the park 7pm by which time it had cooled a little as we had temperatures over 30* today but a nice breeze which helped cool a little, cattle got plenty of big old trees to get in the shade. Over 1/2 a million on Bournemouth beach apparently, no social distancing at all and no toilet facilities so suppose if you wanted a dump you went in the, Buzzer.
PS. second picture for you Wrighty being you had a Ford 5000 way back

Nice to see the new cattle chap. Do you still have to take water to that field as i imagine they must drink a bit in this heat. Still red hot here.
Apparently the council had to dispose of 41 tonnes of rubbish today from all those people on Sandbank and Bournemouth beach yesterday !
I imagine today was just as bad.
Hi all, if the idiot’s can’t do as they are told or clear up behind themselves’ shut the beach that’s my way of dealing with it.
