This may intrest you Buzzer & Wrighty. Alot of companies used to do lime spreading and the like back in the 60’s.
Click on pages twice to read.
My dad used to have lime spread on our farm, it came not that far from pepperbox hill on the Salisbury road. A mate of mine’s dad usually got the job Syd Bull from Nomansland and he had a 6 wheel drive GMC that was LHD originally with a petrol engine in her but this was replaced with an P6 Perkins as it was far more economical.
Of course the spreading was all weather related as you did not want them on too soft a ground, Buzzer.

Glad you all had a good time at Ag college, I went on day release in Salisbury college travelling there on my Royal Enfield 350 Bullet and the lecturers were from Lackham the Wiltshire Ag college near Chipenham so that’s where I went, to be honest it was like a Borstal very strict and we were boarded in a big old house with 6 or 7 to a room but made some good friends while there. It was five & a half days every week rotating practical mornings and theory afternoons and vice versa, in bed by 10pm lights out at 10.15. My reports to the old man were not that good and had the usual comments of does not concentrate and could do better but we survived all that and then followed a completely different route into International road haulage and the rest as they say is history, Buzzer
On the subject of Agri Colleges Buzzer it has come as a “Bomb Shell” out of the blue that the ■■■■■■■■ based Newton Rigg College near Penrith will be closing down next year. There has been uproar about the announcement but as the college is owned and run by another Agri outfit based in Yorkshire , which was a surprise, I don’t think there is much that will be done about it unless it is somehow returned to local control/ownership ! Sign of the times I guess ! Cheers Dennis.

Aha memory jerker right there Dean, when I was at the Wiltshire Agricultural college doing a NCA course in 66/67 we had a brand new ford 3000 selecto speed as it was called but we renamed it jerkomatic and you could very easily throw someone of the back of a trailer if it was operated too fast, never did like it and i don’t think it really caught on as farmers preferred a pre selected manual box, cheers Buzzer
