Davies Int. Southampton. With photos (Part 1)

gerbil sb152:
Hi john, i have just been reading that France has reopened restaurants as of yesterday but can only serve food outside so don’t know what they will do now it’s a bit colder and wetter. Not to bad a crop off the grass, they say we could get a drop of rain over the next few week’s but we will have to see. :sunglasses:

I think it’s only Paris that serves outside only? Certainly, I ate indoors at a Routier yesterday, and very nice it was too.

Klondyke all aboard the MV Mont St Michel at Ouisterham and he is looking forward to be served a hot meal on board so things look like they are getting a lot easier for International drivers, Buzzer.

You may have known this fella Buzzer.

Sorry Dean cant remember the name on the Dodge, on another subject and as i know you follow the farming input I went to Frome market today and secured some new stock of the Wrighty variety, 18 steers &14 Heifers all (got a bit carried away) Limousin crosses all from one holding. They came from Norden farm which is very close to Corfe Castle is that any where near you Dean ? anyways my mate from the IOW brought home 28 and to save him putting any on the top deck i did the other four, always forget to take pictures and Richard Salter has a very nice Scania six wheeler with Houghton Parkhouse box but when the top deck extends upwards he cannot get under the bridge at Wilton so has to divert A34 then A303 which he did this morning as he had two full decks of stock.
They are in the barn and I reckon they have come straight of there mums as they are hollering summit chronic, have been to see the two nearest houses to apologize for the bellowing but they are fine with it, it will only last a couple days then worm em and jab em for Blackleg and out they will go, Cheers Buzzer

Evening Buzzer

The new purchases look quality outfits and will soon settle down, were they a bargain or did you go daft wit brass… We’ve been dosing lambs and sawing tup hog horns inbetween the heavy showers, the rain is much needed and should make the grass grow but it has certainly cooled down. We were lucky as we got our hay baled on Mon/Tues before the rain and it should be reet stuff.

Cheers Wrighty.

Well 24 hours on and the noise from the cattle has eased a tad, they do chirp up and holler if I go to pick the eggs up but generally quieter today, did all the relevant paperwork for them all today to keep things up together, cheers Buzzer.

PS. Wrighty I have PM’d you

We do have some nice cattle about at the moment, it’s certainly a long job breeding pure stock, we just have to sell some at big money now (easier said than done) as Buzzer will confirm.
Busy day today left Leeming bar this morning and tipped near Nottingham then ran over to Holbeach and loaded straw, tipped tonight near Frizington now parked up enjoying a cold can or two…

Cheers Wrighty.

And relax at Tracy Island this morning, waiting for the off, Buzzer

This may be of intrest Buzzer. Ford tractors from 1964.

Aha memory jerker right there Dean, when I was at the Wiltshire Agricultural college doing a NCA course in 66/67 we had a brand new ford 3000 selecto speed as it was called but we renamed it jerkomatic and you could very easily throw someone of the back of a trailer if it was operated too fast, never did like it and i don’t think it really caught on as farmers preferred a pre selected manual box, cheers Buzzer

Would have been about five years after that, I had a little fabricating works and a chap with a press shop used to drop in stillages full of wire mesh grill pressings for me to hand weld a light metal channel edging to. The rounded corners were separate pieces from the straight edges, so 8 pieces in all. For the ones with headlight on i had to press 2 light metal rings in as well, but I don’t remember why he didn’t do that. I know they were for Ford tractors, but not sure if they were for production models, or spares supplies.
