Merry Christmas buzzer and all my other virtual friends on here

Evening all well littered the cows and they like to lay on a new bed of straw, had me dinner and customary snooze on’t sofa after, just come home to shut the chickens up then back to pick the Boss up, cheers Buzzer.

Im’e well and truly in the dog house today, first TNUK would not respond and I thought my machinery was up the spout so on FB I connected to a nice man who said it was technical problems at there end, then me and the Boss took a stroll down the village to watch the annual Boxing day scramble with a football then adjourned to the pub, now any that know me know don’t drink a great deal but when in convivial circumstances things can go awry and they did, the dog were playing up a bit on his lead so he was escorted home with the Boss at arms length but me I stayed and when the atmosphere and company is good well you just don’t say non and a couple of hours later it’s too late. Did walk home but it was twice as long as normal aka the meanderings but how many of you have been there and done that, suffered some ear flack for my troubles and managed to eat me bangers and roast spuds for tea and now got a second wind, shall I go back for some hair of the dog noooo ! think I will give that a miss but it was enjoyable while it lasted, Merry Christmas everyone, Buzzer.

PS. Mrs D fed the horses & put the chook’s to bed me just got cold shoulder for me trouble and apparently I should know better !

Found this picture today in the bottom of the draw, expect most have been made to pose for a school picture just to make you look brainier than you actually were me with a globe in the background for effect, Buzzer.

The globe was an indication of your future career, Mr D!! Ruling the world!!

Today I sold my old Massey 590 tractor, it has not gone far just the other side of Southampton so now can’t wait for my new second hand one to arrive in the new year.

One of our originals ex Bowyers still the best colour scheme we ever had, Buzzer.

Have to agree with you there Mr D, hope you’re no longer in the dog house.
Cheer’s for another great pic.

Hiya Buzzer, how much warranty did you give the Geezer that bought the Massey Fergie ? Don’t tell me ! "It expired the moment it left your yard " !! On a sensible note, you refer to “littering” the animals whereas up our way it’s called “bedding down” . Anyhow may I take this opportunity to wish both you and the Family All the best for 2017 and I hope your farming endeavours continue to be both successful as well as interesting. Cheers Dennis. P.S. and best of luck with 'osses also.

Afternoon Buzzer

Well it’s going to be a sober one for me tonight, tipping at Foston this afternoon then it’s a mystery what I’ve got for tomorrow but there’s a fair chance the roads will be very quiet come morning.
Busy at home calving and feeding sheep, the next job to do is scanning the sheep so we can sort them into groups for feeding and before long we will be lambing again…

Have a great new year and have a drink for those of us daft enough to be working.

Cheers Wrighty.

Evening Wrighty some one’s got to do it mate but at least you will be sober, me Im’e not out celebrating after Boxing day I got a red card just cant help me self when the company’s good and the ale is flowing and the banter is good. Sorted out me lean too and tidied up set up the crush and race as I want to worm and louse the cows and bull and ready for TB test on the 16th.

Dennis funny how varied names for jobs in different parts of the country but that’s just dialect I suppose, reading my “Carriage Driving” magazine it is reported there is an upsurge in pacers and the relevant racing like the kind you used to do, it is gaining popularity so maybe you should come out of retirement and get yoursen a new steed to show em how its done proper like.

Suspect a good many readers and contributors on this thread will be out partying and the like so all have a jolly good time and here’s to a happy and healthy new year to one and all and we will continue the banter in 2017 no doubt, all the best Buzzer.

What a wet and miserable day the 1st of January was the only good bit was a nice roast brisket joint with all the trimmings but today much better with a bit of sunshine to boot, my mate came and we got up the last three bales of haylage from the council ground I rented last year and glad to have it again this summer, it is a so peaceful down there love it.
After that we made a hole through the wall of the barn to make way for a water pipe to a tank ready to separate the bull from the cows, plumber coming in’t morning to do the connection. Then a spot of lunch as you do and revamped the pigsty to take the old chicken for a short spell till they go, need to do this to make way for new arrivals in the main house. The old birds are moulting and have almost all stopped laying so time they went.
Not heard from DBP in a long while so if you are looking in let us know your ok mate as you always had input on here, cheers Buzzer.

Morning Buzzer

Well it’s a lovely day up ere about to venture out and feed some sheep, then mucking some sheds out although it’s still a bit wet to spread on most of our fields.
Busy yesterday putting up salt licks and minerals for the cows, we seem to be deficient in some trace elements up ere so they are essential to avoid deformed calves and other related problems, cos as you know wi livestock there’s allus summat to keep thi busy…

Cheers Wrighty.

That will do nicely Pete, no more speed limiters(52mph) and no bloody trackers just good old fashioned truck driving bring it on…

Cheers Wrighty.

My day started early 7am litter up hosses & feed then me porridge and down to chicken house to sort the olduns from the rest, they went into the converted pigsty for time being. Then off to get straw and haylage back home and unload, quick cup of tea and away to pick up 40 new POL Warren chickens back with them put colour coded rings on so I know how old they are clipped one wing to stop em flying and it were 3.30 already, just the spuds to do for tea and that were my day, time flies when your busy don’t know where it goes.

Wrighty I put a mineral lick bucket in with my cows, sit em in an old tyre wired to a post and that way they cant upend it but there at it all the time, mine are molasses based and they love em, they are just over a tenner a pop and last about ten days but like you say they get all the minerals that way. Hope to get out with the team tomorrow but forecast very cold so might have to dig out the thermals tonight. Just off down to check the cows all ok as I do most evenings then off to bed as another early start for me, yes I know its not 5am but I done plenty of that in me time also looking forward to getting me new tractor delivered which may be on Friday if the loader is fitted we shall see, Buzzer.

There’s more to rearing livestock than most folk realise Buzzer, they don’t just live off grass and water with lots of money spent on minerals and salt licks and the like.
Our Cattle are on chrysalix copper buckets which at 80kgs each are right numb b*****ds to move, but they seem to love em so should’nt grumble.
I bet you’re looking forward to the new tractor coming eh, should make your life a bit easier and you will wonder how you managed with the old 590…

Cheers Wrighty.

Wrighty this aint my new tractor but mine is similar only it’s blue, cheers Buzzer.

Looks quite nice in beige.

Got this as a screen saver, brilliant shot through the windscreen of the following truck, taken in Bosnia during that conflict in the early 90’s which we did a lot of, Buzzer
