Buzzer:
Dennis I get the feeling you like a bit of the old equine and agricultural theme on the DIT thread of late, I suppose because I was born on a farm I never really lost the love of it but I do still get a thrill of seeing a well turned out truck going about its business, as for horses although we had a couple of riding beasts at home with my sisters riding it never appealed to me, too far to the ground.
Thinking forward the old internet gets people close together and most of them we have never met but have a common interest, horses, cattle and of course trucks. My typing skills and speed have improved tremendously since regular inputs on various threads on TNUK and it also gives you a chance to vent your feelings to others on what you think albeit some have some odd ideas like your old adversary CF and you hit the nail bang square on the head when you said he was like a terrier and has to have the last yap.
Lets keep this input and banter going and we can put up with a few truck inputs of men still at the job with Andrew abroad and Wrighty on his tanker and farm work mix with occasional pictorial accounts of there work which I find as all round entertainment, cheers Buzzer.
Aye Buzzer we come from similar backgrounds, " A spade is a shovel" so to speak, and there is sure a fair cross section of talent from all strata’s of our industry on the TNUK site, priceless !! My antecedents were Farmers on the paternal side and Blacksmiths and Carriers on the maternal side so I suppose it’s got to come out somewhere as my best friends were, and still are, farmers , hauliers and, unfortunately, a deceased Blacksmith ( The finest) Cheers Dennis.

Good news Buzzer , breaking wind , breaking news , grass is greener , myself I have been there done it and got the t shirt as I am sure many of us have . Bewick: Come on Buzzer lets keep the thread “sensible” and concentrate on that which we both hold dear, our days of employing staff are behind us ( I hope) IIRC this is an 89/90 shot of me stood with Dalestar at Appleby, he was a great horse during the years we raced him ( full H’oss) he was head and shoulders above the completion. Cheers Dennis.
" employing staff " ■■ You look a bit like a character from the Fast show there cocker…

Balders you had better be right about that weather prediction or me and Wrighty will be on the first boat over and drown you in a vat of Guiness as we don’t take false alarms kindley. Buzzer.

Well Balders at least I wasn’t shy of posting a shot of my-self and I have no idea who or what the Fast show is or was ! However it can’t have been too bad if there was an actor in it as 'andsome as myself But anyway, in the absence of a shot of your good self and with the “handle” Baldrick can we assume, quite properly, that you bear a close resemblance to the Character of the same name in the TV comedy Blackadder or maybe you are a ringer for a member of the Muppet Show, the proof of the pudding will be a shot of yourself posted on the thread, my breath is “abated” Cocker !
Dennis be assured he is or was the spitting image of said character because it was me who gave him that nickname as I did a lot of drivers back in the day, the trouble is a lot even when they moved on still were stuck with what we christened them with.
We had a new bloke started to tip and load in the UK and in the 90’s we had 30 odd drivers of which he knew not one so he used to call every one knobby and that became his nickname and I suspect you had aka names for some of your men too Buzzer.

We sure did John ! Question Mark (cos’ he was shaped like one) Kentucky Fried ( cos’ he lived on them), Musky ( wore a hat like the character in the cartoon), Village idiot ( cos’ he was), Delicate ( 18 stone), Tunnel Gob ( cos. it was big), Little legs( cos they were short compared to the rest of his body), Fagin (our tyre/ trailer fitter), Horse Breath ( which I objected to on account that it insulted my Horses), The Weasel ( Daventry driver but a great lad!) The Breadman ( he started with us from Wonderloaf) , Emerald ( green as the grass and un-trainable) “Pako” ( as in Pack of ■■■■■ his favourite description of the inhabitants of the Traffic Office), The Monk ( a Rochdale Driver with a bald pate just like a Monk), Brown Wipe ( a nick name of a Disley based Driver that I never enquired what it actually meant), Bull Davies ( Roy Davies after the wrestler Roy “Bull” Davies so our lad just got called Bull), Flippin 'eck ( cos he never swore) The list goes on but they are some that spring to mind just now. Cheers Dennis.
Well Baldrick you played a blinder today dry all day so got some of our sheep clipped on the edge of the fell, it must be a good forecast because most of the dale is mowing for silage and possibly hay if the weather holds out.
Back to work tomorrow two loads into Manchester then to our yard near Stoke for a load to Stafford, it’s all go up ere getting ready for a holiday but there doesn’t look to be one on the horizon…
My daughter Penny’s Hen party weekend (yes they’ve called it a ‘Pen’ party) She’s left us northerners to live near Oxford where she works, but wants the wedding in Barrow and the reception by lake Windermere. The ‘Pen’ party is at Bowness, so I’m delighted that the weather has been kind - she usually crows about how much nicer it is ‘darn sarf.’
Hubby to be is from London - well, Harrow, (I’m sure nobody says"Harra on’t 'Ill" ) It’s nice for his family to see that it’s not always raining oop north.
Looking good for the coming week and hoping Wrighty can get all the jobs done before it breaks.
My problems - ‘Oh dear, it’s raining again, I’ll have to leave the lawn for another day!’ Always seem small compared to farming, where it really matters!

Mornin’ Bewick…
You should check out the Fast Show… It’s all character based comedy sketches with loads of characters… Have a look on utube. Although I’m sure you have plenty of other things to do!
I attach a passport pic taken in 1981 about 15 years before I walked into Davies office in Anderson Road seeking gainful employment on the Blue and Whites… In answer to my request , Buzzers answer was " has anyone ever told you you look like Baldrick? " I have to concede he had a point , and that Moniker has stuck this past 20 years…
That’s a fine looking horse in your picture. I’m reminded that , back in the day , all Brian Yeardleys motors were named after racehorses. Some owned by him I think? Might be wrong as the old grey cells not as good as they were…
Some techy on here might have to put the pic up the right way… I’m not sure why they always post upside down.
Anyway , Bewick, enjoy a laugh at my expense and have a good day.
Best wishes… Balders. ( by the way, my real name is Quentin Shufflebottom so it was a bit if a blessing in disguise what JD did…)
While we’re on a roll of self humiliation Bewick… Here’s me agin…know idea what the occasion was or why I’m rigged up in a top hat , but you have to admit , THAT is a world beating mullet!
Enjoy lads…

Balders I have downloaded your pic.Blown it up and placed it on the mantelpiece
It will keep the great grandchildren away from the fire!

Just one question Quentin, how did you manage to erase the numbers from the bottom of the mug shot ? Cheers Bewick.

An Extra in “Oliver” maybe ? One of Fagin’s pick pockets ? Bewick.
Another one and a half hours spent harvesting produce from the allotment this morning, two washing up bowls full of French beans and one of runners plus a few spuds and six beetroot for a friend, very time consuming picking beans on an industrial scale and do that every two days and most I give away to my egg customers and that makes them very happy. The cup of tea on the arm of the chair was well earned I can tell you then I had to bag them all up, Cheers Buzzer.
With the sun out and temperatures in the 30’s plus it was time to cut the grass with my trusty 36yo Massey 590 and a 20yo plus mower of ebay for a smidgen over £400, put new blades in and checked the belts and away we went, made a fair job considering the age of the equipment. Going to be hot for the next two days by all account (thanks Balders) and the contractor coming Wednesday to roll it up into bales wrap and cart cant wait for that, then some nice gentle rain please and back to bean picking tomorrow Buzzer.
