Evening Buzzer

They look like a nice couple of outfits coming out of the trailer, a good old Yorkshireman will gi nowt away… Well we got all our silage picked up on Friday and now we are waiting for the hay weather to arrive ( about Wednesday would be good please Baldrick) but to be honest there doesn’t seem to be much on the horizon, the land is getting wet now so it will be fun when we cut it.
Having a trip out to Kirkcudbright tomorrow to pick up a load of milk for delivery to Southport so should be a nice ride out.

Cheers Wrighty.

Wrighty them jacks look well comfortable on that carpet in front of that roaring fire, is that a library picture or is it got cold up your end ?
Them last two are pedigree and calves six month old but was hard picking them out when there is sixty in a field and the calves are not with mum but all over the place but had a choice of four, the cows all got names according to what year they are born one letter for each year.
Ime ready with mower ont Massey 590 in barn just waiting for hopefully two to three good days together and we will be at it.
Picked a load of runner beans today and had some for tea but you always end up giving a lot away, very tasty must admit but prefer the French ones me self, got ribeye tomoz for tea with more beans and new spuds I have dug tonight, proper job as they say in Cornwall Buzzer.

Great to see the dogs home and happy.
We too have a fire at night this past few days… Bit of a shocker after living a good few years in sunnier climes.
Can’t promise much with the weather Wrighty… Rain and wind here set for the next few days , although Saturday looking better. Not the weather to be out on a Lough in a small boat so no fishing for me at the mo…
Ah well, back to the painting… :frowning:

Wrighty pleased to see the dogs back and at home ,must be nice to have even a fire place let alone a real fire .“ehh lad luxury”,we have had the heating on at night for some time now, temp, set at about 20,and on she blows…plus i always have a t shirt on all the time under a jumper, getting softer as i get older,

However i think back when in the D AF. bloody big lift up bottom bunk bed, and storage under the bunk, collecting the outside cold air ,wrapped in a ex military sleeping bag, plus layers of news paper between the sheet and mattress , reluctant to put the night heater on in case it drained the battery, you would be totalY SCREWED minus 10 or more in POLAND 1998s So now the heating stays on for all year…one of the lads got frost bite bad on/in his hand. once i dieseled up for cash Dutchmaks ,there were 1,000 slotes to the pound then, and they gave me a rear "light bulb"as a bunce ,true…they thought they were giving me a deal… i did not let on, that i had a box of them …maybe another English man had given them, them.plus a coffee in a jam jar… gospel truth…pdb

And I thought I had problems with the puppy digging holes in the lawn, this was today when me “do it all” man informed me that me soak away was blocked and needed fixing and so too it, when he got it dug thoughts of what could I bury in there came to mind, the dog or maybe the Mrs then I came to my senses, he put new cages in with stones and backfilled her, missed opportunity probably not as I always seem to get found out, Buzzer.

Evening all,

John, (Buzzer), oh how I can sympathise with that hole in your lawn…

Since we have endured increased rainfall we have had endless problems where the field drained into the soakaway, rather than the correct way…soakaway to field…So thee must be an answer…

Following an advert in Country Landowner I did a deal with a seemingly reputable company based on the Shropshire borders for, a, “sewage disposal system”…capable of handling the effluent for up to 30 persons…(no we are not all habitual ex lax users…but thought that as I’m now restricted in what I’m supposed to do each day…well I might develop a few buildings in the yard)…

So out went my cheque…and in came a bunch of cowboys…I should have known when I saw the “Highway Maintenance” stickers on their lwb transit crew cabs…let alone the aged JCB 0814 on a worn trailer…

When the kit arrived it was a big, oh so big pot…that none of them could move it…let alone dig a hole big enough to bury the thing!..So out I rumble with the faultless, but aged Hy Mac…and a big hole was dug…into which said pot fell with a plop!

By gum Buzzer…30 persons…I could couple up the village and still have capacity…it thrums away, the (Italian of course), electronic aeriating pump hubbles and bubbles away…and at the end of the discharge pipe there is always a trickle of clear…(clearish ), water flowing into a ditch…

Beats the septic tank hands down…we were pumping that device every week…(and been a malicious sort I was), spreading it behind the Barn Conversions who had played hell via the local Council about lorries, and my tractors serving the farm…great fun on a balmy summers evening just as they fired up their barbies!..No we do not get Chistmas cards from them!..you should have seen the Bluebottles…the size of Dornier Bombers!

So sewage system…great device…

But you lucky devils who are on main sewers…never begrudge your water bills…for truly, you are the lucky ones!

Cheerio for now.

Breaking wind, sorry breaking news if you can call it that as it’s not a secret any more as its all over FB the mighty “snapper” Morrison is set to return to Treasure Island not sure what index plate he will be allotted just yet so the picture famine should soon be over for all those followers of this thread who are fed up with an every day story of country folk, you should soon be seeing some shots of life on the open International routes once more courtesy of the main man.
Don’t know the reasoning for the return after Davexit but sure we will be informed in due course so welcome back Andrew for how long remains to be seen. Buzzer.

Thank goodness for that! Was getting sick of looking at Cows backsides

Maybe it was having to pull that tatty curtain sider (!) that started the yearn back for an immaculate matching truck and fridge, but I do admit to peeking on your Facebook page to continue the fix of ‘Snapper’

Welcome back.

Kerbut
Hi Nigel I know what you mean, but a good one was always welcome back, had one went AUZ for 2/3 ys then returned,
got lumberd with R?R Crusader, bet that was bit of a change.

Great news Snapper’s back in the fold, looking forward to some pictures of your foreign travels. Nowt but cows arses and the possibility of rain up ere. :open_mouth:

Cheers Wrighty.

Listen all Andrew served his full four weeks notice at Davies when he left so that for us is the door ajar should they wish to return especially if they are good at the job and “snapper” was that.
Things have changed dramatically since I was at the helm when it was not uncommon to have three or four drivers come in and ask for a start every week, nowadays you just cant get drivers let alone good ones and in our case that are also competent with LHD.
Off course it helps if you have a nice bit of kit to give a driver as they spend a long time away so this does help, when I think back to the MH days it was amazing what trucks some chaps were prepared to take abroad just to be given the chance at the job in my case a day cab AEC Mandator with boards across the engine to kip and home made curtains.
When I started going abroad with trucks in and around Southampton there were twenty or more companies involved in International work either own account or traction for the bigger companies, we are one of very few left plying that trade today so Kerbut you have to realize things have had a dramatic change in the transport world and its no use today cutting of your nose to spite your face and if a driver did well when he worked for you in the past and left you in the correct way welcome him back and lets get on with the job in hand, on the plus side at least we don’t have to train Andrew as he has been there and done it for us, Buzzer.

PS. “snapper” will be posting pictures very soon for sure to appease all you, he does need training on the eating side of things though.

Hi Buzzer,
Same up this way for finding good drivers, I’ve had one thats on his third time and as you say you have not got to train them up

Yes indeed good news “SNAPPER” ANDREW well done!! you have got it out of your system .you will be ok. you may find a little bit of coldness from some drivers but they have never had the ■■■■■■■■ to do what you have.pdb

What did he do? Regards Charlie

Come on Buzzer lets keep the thread “sensible” and concentrate on that which we both hold dear, our days of employing staff are behind us ( I hope) IIRC this is an 89/90 shot of me stood with Dalestar at Appleby, he was a great horse during the years we raced him ( full H’oss) he was head and shoulders above the completion. Cheers Dennis.

Dennis I get the feeling you like a bit of the old equine and agricultural theme on the DIT thread of late, I suppose because I was born on a farm I never really lost the love of it but I do still get a thrill of seeing a well turned out truck going about its business, as for horses although we had a couple of riding beasts at home with my sisters riding it never appealed to me, too far to the ground.
Thinking forward the old internet gets people close together and most of them we have never met but have a common interest, horses, cattle and of course trucks. My typing skills and speed have improved tremendously since regular inputs on various threads on TNUK and it also gives you a chance to vent your feelings to others on what you think albeit some have some odd ideas like your old adversary CF and you hit the nail bang square on the head when you said he was like a terrier and has to have the last yap.
Lets keep this input and banter going and we can put up with a few truck inputs of men still at the job with Andrew abroad and Wrighty on his tanker and farm work mix with occasional pictorial accounts of there work which I find as all round entertainment, cheers Buzzer.
