Very good Andrew but a more frequent visit to TNUK would please your followers better keep it up, Buzzer

Great pics, thanks for posting them. Anybody would think driving a truck is a real cushy number, swanning around the hotspots of southern Europe, parked up in the sunshine of Greece, Italy etc, weekends by the pool!!  …and getting exceedingly well paid for it as well!! :open_mouth:  :open_mouth:

Well pointed out Bullitt, exactly what I was saying to Andrew in the yard last week and he replied that he was to busy to post pictures then he goes and contradicts himself on here, luxury travel in superior motors in nice weather good money and plenty of RAR to boot, don’t know there born these lads, cheers Buzzer.

I new you was going to say that as soon as read it, and I don’t even know you

Well ERF man I don’t know you either but when I was having my little ta-ta-tet with those chaps in the yard, I said that a company such as ours is only as good as its drivers and without this it makes hard work of every thing you do and I honestly believe in praise every now and then to let them know they are appreciated. I don’t have any day to day running any more but still take an active interest in what’s going on. Do I miss it yes to a point but think this is due to it being my life’s work and if you got diesel in your blood it’s hard to remove, on the other hand I think most would agree the whole job has changed dramatically over the forty odd years I have been involved in transport. Although now I am enjoying retirement I would not have changed a thing and have enjoyed my life through both bad and good times alike , cheers Buzzer.

I miss it too, in the ninetys I was driving the same routes as yours doing similar work for what was in my opinion the best long haul firm in the business. I always thought you were in the top three. I loved your 88 and yours was the first FH I saw in Spain in the march of I think was 94. I see your Scanias and I think well done buzzer.

Evening Buzzer,

jobs changed a lot since when we knew it, (sadly), and I think that I was a bit before you!!!

Often talk to the lads who come to the farm to deliver, or collect stuff…they cannot imagine driving “non motorway” with less than 350hp! I remember dreaming of having 150 hp…and that was after a very, “interesting” day on the back roads of Sicily!

You are totally right, the success of any business is the people working within it, and perhaps our world is fortunate that we can have a bit of “craic”, and no barriers between owner and employee.

Watched a bit of film earlier on your thread, and was amazed at the proliferation of Autostrada by gum , I would never have believed such roads could exist in the 60s. And you now miss the best bits, the views, the Bars, and the locals!

Good luck with your driving, I hope the cattle sold well, we`ve lots of grain…but so has everyone else…something to moan about!!

Cheerio for now, (and I really enjoy Andrews pictures…makes me feel young again…
