Buzzer:
Mappo another cracking motor ex ASR, that is until FT put a rod through the side on the Winchester bypass early one morning coming back from covent garden. He got a police range rover to tow him including the empty fridge up on to the gravel layby on the Otterbourne turn off. By the time I got to grips with it Slatey had ordered an exchange motor of Princes at Millbrook and she ended up being driven by me doing wine tanks for Armstrongs, cheers buzzer.
PS. she got painted two tone blue in the end and was the sister motor to Ian Lawsons truck.
Can anyone spot where this was taken?
Gaz good morning. I can remember Richard showing me this pic years ago. Probably wrong here, but was it Bolzano??
I think you’ll find it was a company called ‘Sopagly’ in Rivesaults, just north of Perpignan, we loaded there on a weekly basis for some years, mostly grape must for Gerber Foods in Bridgwater and occasionly wine for Buckfast Abbey.
Regards GAZ
Hi GAZ you were ok loading a road tank as you could leave the little centre tank MT, most blokes who loaded grape juice concentrate there in ISO tanks chose to fill them right up as this was safer when braking as the tanks had no baffles to stop the slop motion, this was dangerous under hard breaking and could carry you into the vehicle in front of you and as they were not tipping in the UK did not worry about the over weight,
On another note Ken Daly drove that F 12 for me, ship out Sunday afternoon to Bolzano back in Wednesday morning and then straight out to Perpignan for second trip of the week and in Saturday morning, all strictly legal you understand but you would know all about that would you not, cheers Buzzer.
Tell me about it JD you really had to watch it with the slop especially with an ISO tank 'cause I never overloaded and always had 2 or 3 feet of space at the top lol. Happy days eh!
Gazzer here’s a picture of mappo leading the convoy in the early days of STS delivering the tele’s to Domodosola having just transited Swiss, hard back then dirty dusty and you needed a drink when you parked up, cheers Buzzer.

Poor old Tone. I expect he got back to Le Havre only find another unaccompanied cart had been shipped over to Le Havre for a turnaround, CMR and running money nailed to a cactus.
When Horry said he’d got you a load of cow skins for Vicenza, I bet you didn’t realise they’d be on the hoof I now know where you got the leather for your sandals !
Looks like GazIOW has got Valerie riding shotgun with him,to make sure he doesn’t shoot his load

The first trip out for Tone was with a right hand drive set of cows. We had to give Tone an old cow horn to press the ticket machine on the peage to save him climbing across the ‘cab’. Tone, stay away from the far lane at the start of the A6 peage as there is a cattle grid on it and ATS Euromaster will not fit spare shoes.
Don’t forget to fill up at Modane. The Shell Directory says there is a water trough there open 24 hours.
Tone mate, its whats called, Having a go, trying to get you going!!! having been there re sandles and socks era, I find if you ignore them they go and play with there toys in the sand pit!!!
While in Frome Market today could not resist this shot, what a fine pair and you would certainly here him coming if he blew them and if you didn’t look out, cheers Buzzer.
trunker08:
Hi Buzzer, Please excuse my ignorance, would that beast be from Scottish highlands, and for breeding, show, shurely not for meat trade,?
Fine looking animal al the same, cheers T/08
Hi TO8 I think he went for meat made only £600 so this is where he is heading , he was quiet but what a night mare to transport with horns like that he would have to be on his own, bet you could get a bob or two for that set of head gear. They are from north ‘o’ the border and suited to that terrain and can stay out in very harsh conditions, Buzzer.
